About the role
Wells Fargo is seeking a Specialty Software Engineering Manager to join the Equity Derivatives Technology organization within Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology. This role leads the engineering teams responsible for strategic front-office and middle-office platforms supporting trade capture, lifecycle management, pricing, regulatory reporting, and controls across the equity derivatives business.
The position spans a broad set of trading businesses, including Flow Derivatives, Delta One, Equity Finance & Futures, Convertibles, Structured Products, and OTC Derivatives.
This is a highly hands-on engineering leadership role for a manager who actively architects, designs, reviews, and guides the implementation of complex platforms. You will drive modernization efforts across cloud, distributed computing, data platforms, and AI-enabled engineering practices while partnering closely with traders, quants, operations, risk, and technology teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and business-critical solutions.
In this role, you will:
  • Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams while remaining actively involved in architecture, design reviews, hands-on development, code quality, and critical technical decisions.
  • Define and execute the technology strategy and roadmap for business-critical platforms, leveraging cloud, data engineering, and modern software practices.
  • Architect and build scalable, resilient, and high-performance platforms that support complex RFQ, trading, risk, life cycle workflow, and operational capabilities.
  • Drive adoption of AI and GenAI-enabled engineering practices to accelerate software delivery, improve quality, automate operations, and increase developer productivity.
  • Establish and enforce engineering excellence through strong standards for system design, testing, security, observability, reliability, performance, and operational resilience.
  • Partner closely with business, product, architecture, platform, and operations teams to deliver strategic outcomes while simplifying technology and reducing operational risk.
  • Hire, develop, and inspire exceptional engineering talent, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous learning, innovation, technical mastery, and delivery excellence.
Required Qualifications, US:
  • 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years engineering leadership experience.
  • 5+ years Java and/or C++ experience driving architecture and design.
  • 2+ years Hands-on experience building low-latency, high-throughput distributed software platforms.
  • 2+ years Proven experience modernizing platforms using cloud, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • 2+ years applying AI and GenAI technologies across software development lifecycles.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Capital markets experience across trading, pricing, market data, lifecycle management, or regulatory platforms.
  • Experience developing AI, GenAI, LLM-based, or agentic enterprise solutions.
  • Experience with cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD, and observability tooling.
  • Strong software architecture, performance engineering, security, observability, and resiliency expertise.
  • Experience leading engineers while partnering effectively across business and technology.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$159,000.00 - $305,000.00
