JOB SUMMARY

The Software Engineer Senior Specialist- Business Tools will leverage extensive experience in Microsoft platforms and technologies to develop software that meets internal and external client requirements. A strong background in relational databases, web development principles, and proficiency in Azure DevOps is also essential for success in this role.

This individual will work collaboratively with software engineers, BI developers, IT, and other team members to design, develop, and optimize applications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values.

The role involves working on a diverse range of projects, including new applications for future service offerings and maintaining legacy desktop & web applications.

The Software Engineer Senior Specialist will receive limited direction on day-to-day work and general instruction on new projects or assignments.  Will assist project leadership on projects of complex scope.  Will work independently or under limited supervision.

This person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Microsoft Platform Development (40%)

• Utilize Microsoft technologies such as ASP.NET Blazor, Core, Windows Forms, WPF, WinUI 3, Web API, Graph API, and Office Add-ins to create robust and scalable applications.
• Develop multi-tier applications and services, ensuring optimal performance, security, and responsiveness.
• Engage in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance

Database Management and Development (15%)

• Utilize Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL to design, develop, and manage relational databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and optimization.
• Work with database administrators to optimize database performance and conduct regular database maintenance tasks.

Azure Resource and DevOps Management (15%)

• Manage application configurations and resources within the Azure portal, optimizing the utilization of Azure services to meet business needs.
• Implement and manage Azure resources, ensuring their availability, reliability, and scalability.
• Utilize Azure DevOps for source code management, task assignments, pipelines, and other development lifecycle processes, ensuring efficient workflow and collaboration within the team.

Web Development (10%)

• Apply knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to develop and enhance user interfaces and user experiences.
• Adhere to web development best practices, ensuring the creation of accessible, responsive, and user-friendly web applications.
• Facilitate and manage meeting sessions with various stakeholders.

Collaboration and Continuous Learning (10%)

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Continuously improve software development skills and knowledge, contributing to the team’s overall growth and development.

Reporting & Documentation (10%)

• Assist with all project communication and reporting
• Document software development efforts to ensure clarity and maintainability
• ​Manages personal hours using company tools

Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget

Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Must have extensive Blazor Experience)

• Proficient in Microsoft platforms & technologies such as ASP.NET, Windows Forms, Entity Framework, Web API.
• Experience with Azure portal and Azure DevOps for managing application configurations, source code, task assignments, pipelines, and other development lifecycle processes.
• Proficient in relational database management, particularly Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Solid understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST, HTTP, JSON
• Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
• Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)
• Ability to communicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact
• Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines
• Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technology
• Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

TRAVEL / RELOCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Up to 5%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states
• Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meeting for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
