Position Purpose:

As a Software Engineer II on the Reliability Engineering Tooling team, you will build and own internal tooling that supports Developers, SREs, and Operations teams across the organization. You'll own the full lifecycle of what you build including development, testing, deployment, and operations; acting as an SRE for your own applications, with internal associates as your customers. Your work will focus on automating manual processes, assessing site health through meaningful data, and owning the SOPs that teams rely on to deploy and update applications in GCP, including the use of AI agents and skills to improve Change hygiene and reduce incidents. Alongside engineers at all experience levels, you'll grow your technical and leadership skills while creating, deploying, and supporting production applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 60% Delivery and Execution - Collaborates and pairs with other product team members (UX, engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions; Documents, reviews and ensures that all quality and change control standards are met; Works with Product Team to ensure user stories that are developer-ready, easy to understand, and testable; Writes custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases; Writes custom code or scripts to do destructive testing to ensure adequate resiliency in production; Program configuration/modification and setup activities on large projects using HD approved methodology; Configures commercial off the shelf solutions to align with evolving business needs Creates meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to ensure that issues are captured and addressed proactively

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience in a related engineering field (Systems, Software, Operational) or a reliability engineering domain
  • Working knowledge of ITIL processes and the support and maintenance of production systems, including Change, Incident, and Problem Management
  • Experience leveraging AI to increase productivity and velocity, including prompt engineering and building custom AI agents and skills
  • Experience with programming languages (Golang, JavaScript/TypeScript, BASH)
  • Experience in writing queries in a relational or noSQL database
  • Experience with infrastructure automation, CI/CD processes, and orchestration tools such as Terraform and Github Actions
  • Experience working in Google Cloud Platform (or equivalent) projects and services
  • Understanding of container orchestration (Kubernetes/GKE) and modern microservice architectures
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
  • Exposure to security tooling (Wiz) and frameworks
  • Experience executing destructive, performance, and failure-scenario tests, including participating in team drills that validate operational readiness
  • Experience with modern debugging and root cause analysis techniques
  • Experience with version control systems
  • Understanding of SLOs and core SRE principles and practices
  • Communication and collaboration skills, with experience producing operational status communications, real-time reporting to stakeholders, and documentation

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
