Here at Hometap, we’re collaborative, passionate, and always ready to roll up our sleeves to create solutions that help people get more out of homeownership — and out of life. Our first product, a home equity investment, gives homeowners the opportunity to quickly access the equity they’ve built in their home to pay for what’s most important to them, from handling debt to finally making much-needed renovations, without taking on debt.
We work hard, and have some fun along the way, too. You don’t have to take our word for it: The Boston Globe and Forbes have recognized us as a great place to work, and we’ve been honored for our commitment to innovation in the fintech space by Inc., HousingWire, and more!
In case you need any more convincing, we also provide competitive compensation, healthcare coverage, generous PTO, a meaningful equity package, and a strong culture with plenty of opportunities for team-building and camaraderie.
Who you are:
As a Senior QA Engineer at Hometap, you'll play a central role in ensuring the quality of the software that powers our mission — from the homeowner-facing platform to investor tools and internal operations systems. Reporting to the QA Manager, you'll contribute to our quality strategy, help grow our automation capabilities, and have meaningful influence over how we build and release software as we scale nationwide. This role is a great fit if you're detail-oriented, quality-obsessed, and energized by building the processes and tooling that help teams release with confidence.
What you’ll do:
- QA and regression-test software for Hometap’s homeowner platform, investor tools, and internal systems
- Drive user acceptance testing (UAT) programs with internal stakeholders and end users
- Help to architect, build, and continuously extend our automated regression testing suite; mentor engineers on the automation framework and best practices
- Design solutions to automate testing of third-party integrations
- Collaborate closely with DevOps to create and maintain AWS sandbox environments for testing and build robust continuous testing pipelines, utilizing tools such as Docker and AWS
- Suggest and evaluate new technologies and tools to assist the QA Team and the overall Technical Product Organization
- Partner with the Product team; carry in-depth knowledge of Hometap software, and acceptance-test new features while covering them with automation
- Be a key stakeholder in release readiness validation; be empowered to prevent immature software from premature release
What you’ll bring:
- 5+ years of professional experience in web application testing
- Strong command of QA processes, testing methodologies, and best practices, with a track record of championing quality standards across all phases of product development
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with web QA automation tools and frameworks
- Experience conducting code reviews of test automation code and mentoring others on best practices, code standards, and maintainability
- Proficiency in JavaScript for writing automated tests, with the adaptability to pick up additional languages as needed
- Experience implementing continuous testing in CI/CD pipelines and collaborating with DevOps
- Experience with API testing and UI/UX testing
- Ability to partner with product managers to translate feature requirements into comprehensive test plans, thinking from the perspective of multiple stakeholders
- Meaningful experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code)
- Strong exploratory testing skills and a high-quality bar
Bonus points:
- Experience with Cypress or PlayWright
- Experience with Python/Python-based frameworks such as Django
- AWS ecosystem expertise
- Experience with security testing
The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $140,000, depending on your experience, skills, location, and other factors. You’ll also receive meaningful equity, so you can share in our growth and success. We offer generous medical, dental, and vision coverage, a work-from-home stipend, parental leave, and plenty of paid time off to recharge.
