Here at Hometap, we’re collaborative, passionate, and always ready to roll up our sleeves to create solutions that help people get more out of homeownership — and out of life. Our first product, a home equity investment, gives homeowners the opportunity to quickly access the equity they’ve built in their home to pay for what’s most important to them, from handling debt to finally making much-needed renovations, without taking on debt.
We work hard, and have some fun along the way, too. You don’t have to take our word for it: The Boston Globe and Forbes have recognized us as a great place to work, and we’ve been honored for our commitment to innovation in the fintech space by Inc., HousingWire, and more!
In case you need any more convincing, we also provide competitive compensation, healthcare coverage, generous PTO, a meaningful equity package, and a strong culture with plenty of opportunities for team-building and camaraderie.
Who you are:
Hometap's core HEI product has proven strong product-market fit. Now we're building what comes next. We are expanding from a single-product company to a multi-product company and have lots of ideas in the pipeline about how to do that, as well as many that this role would be responsible for generating and validating as big opportunities to pursue.
This is a zero-to-one role. You will be the first dedicated lead on new product development, operating with a small, high-leverage team and significant executive visibility. You won't be handed a roadmap; you'll build it through rigorous discovery, rapid prototyping, and disciplined validation
What you'll do:
Lead new product discovery and validation
- Own the full discovery process across multiple new product hypotheses, including use cases, market sizing, customer interviews, competitive analysis, and regulatory feasibility
- Design and run structured concept validation: prototype-based user testing, partner with Business Development for channel partner conversations, and user research for rapid user concept feedback
- Partner with finance on new product strategy to develop hypotheses for new financial products to validate with homeowners
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative signals into a clear, evidence-based recommendation on where to place the first big bet
- Use AI tools as a core part of discovery – for analysis, synthesis, prototype generation, research planning – to move faster than a traditional team several times your size
Define and build toward launch
- Translate validated insights into a product definition, GTM strategy, and phased launch plan
- Partner with a lean team to build and test early versions – knowing when to prototype vs. when to ship real code
- Define business cases, go/no-go criteria, success metrics, and instrument the feedback loops needed to iterate quickly post-launch
Shape Hometap's new product strategy
- Work directly with the CPO, COO, and broader leadership team to frame the new product portfolio, prioritize bets, and make the case for resource investment
- Identify the regulatory questions that need early answers, and work with legal and compliance to get them
- Communicate progress, findings, and recommendations clearly to senior leadership on a regular cadence
What you bring:
- 10+ years of product management experience, with meaningful time spent on 0-to-1 or new product bets, not just roadmap execution on established products. The ideal candidate would bring experience in consumer fintech, financial services, or a regulated industry where compliance and customer trust are core product constraints.
- Track record of leading structured discovery that resulted in a go / no-go recommendation that held up – you know what good validation looks like and you've done it
- Demonstrated experience using AI as a force multiplier (for research synthesis, prototype iteration, user interview analysis, competitive intelligence, etc.)
- You move fast without cutting corners on insight quality – you know the difference between a validated hypothesis and a confirmed bias.
- You're comfortable with ambiguity and energized by it; you don't need a defined roadmap to be productive, and enjoy building the roadmap yourself.
- You're a strong communicator who can make a crisp recommendation to a skeptical executive audience and defend it
Bonus points:
- Familiarity with home equity products, residential real estate, or consumer lending
- Experience working with or designing B2B distribution channels (partner portals, referral programs, embedded finance)
- Awareness of the regulatory landscape around consumer financial products and the judgment to flag risk early
Why This Role?
- Hometap has an established core product, and this is a rare chance to build what comes next, with resources, support, and a real mandate to do it. If you've been waiting for a role where you can truly own something from concept to shipped product, this is it.
- We're building with AI tooling as a core part of how we work, not as an experiment
- We have an established product and are at a genuine growth stage, which means you'll be close enough to the business to see your work matter immediately
The salary range for this role is $200,000 - $225,000, depending on your experience, skills, location, and other factors. You’ll also receive meaningful equity, so you can share in our growth and success. We offer generous medical, dental, and vision coverage, a work-from-home stipend, parental leave, and plenty of paid time off to recharge.
Hometap is an equal opportunity employer. We provide employment opportunities regardless of race, age, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, national origin, pregnancy, marital, veteran, or disability status. If there is an accommodation that would support your ability to apply and interview with Hometap, please let us know by emailing [email protected].
