If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Program Manager - Technical to join our Verification Program team within the Identity & Trust organization. In this role, you will own one or more financial crime control pillars, spanning KYC and identity verification, Enhanced Due Diligence, Transaction Monitoring, and Sanctions, PEP, and Adverse Media Screening. You will drive the design, implementation, tuning, and testing of the systems that deliver these controls.

You will ensure that first line of defense (FLOD) controls are effective, auditable, and scalable as we expand into new markets and product offerings such as wallets and lending. This is hands-on control ownership. You will make and defend calibration recommendations, design the testing that proves they work, and produce the evidence to represent controls to internal audit, external validation, and regulatory examination.

This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role for a senior program manager who thrives in ambiguity, can connect technical systems to regulatory intent, and builds clarity across product, engineering, compliance, and operations stakeholders. You will be part of a small but highly technical team responsible for embedding robust FinCrime controls that protect our customers, providing continuity for incident response, new product design, and audit and exam readiness.

You will report to the Head of Verification Program Management and work closely with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Analytics, Compliance, and Operations.

You Will:
  • Drive end-to-end control lifecycle management, including requirements definition, control design, configuration, pre-launch testing, and post-launch effectiveness review.

  • Design and execute FLOD testing programs — above-the-line and below-the-line testing, synthetic true-positive generation, and periodic effectiveness reviews — and size samples so that findings are statistically defensible.

  • Own the tuning and calibration of detection thresholds and matching criteria, balancing false negative risk against alert volume, operational capacity, and customer experience, and document the rationale behind every change.

  • Lead vendor implementations and migrations, including parallel running, discrepancy root-cause analysis, and go/no-go criteria for cutover.

  • Translate risk insights and regulatory requirements into business and system requirements (BRDs), partnering with Compliance, Product, and Engineering to operationalize scalable solutions.

  • Serve as the expert on your control systems — maintaining continuity for incident response, audit requests, regulatory exams, and new product risk assessments.

  • Drive and maintain audit and exam readiness, ensuring evidence documentation, traceability, and control mapping across your pillar.

  • Build monitoring dashboards and automated alarms so that control breakage is detected proactively rather than discovered during review.

  • Develop deep industry knowledge in your control areas including best practices, emerging vendor capabilities, and upcoming regulatory and risk trends, and bring that perspective into our roadmap.

  • Partner with our compliance team on requirements interpretation, effectiveness challenge, and independent validation of your control changes.

You Have:
  • 4+ years of experience in program management, risk control ownership, or detection system tuning within AML, FinCrime, fraud, or an adjacent regulated domain.

  • Demonstrated ownership of a detection or decisioning system end to end

  • Strong grounding in how to prove a control is working, including how to test for what a system is missing, not just what it flags.

  • Technical fluency, with the ability to interpret and write BRDs and collaborate substantively with engineering and data analytics teams.

  • Intermediate-to-advanced analytics skills and comfort independently analyzing operational and risk control data.

  • Excellent written communication, with the ability to produce documentation that is durable and defensible to auditors, validators, and regulators.

  • Ability to context-switch across product, compliance, and operational domains and provide structured clarity in ambiguous situations.

  • Demonstrated use of AI tooling to accelerate analytical or compliance work, with clear judgment about where automation is and is not appropriate in a regulated control.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across global time zones.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, risk management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience with AML control systems, including sanctions and PEP screening, transaction monitoring, KYC and document verification, or customer risk rating.

  • Familiarity with name matching and entity resolution: fuzzy matching algorithms, transliteration and multicultural naming conventions, secondary identifier logic, and list management.

  • Experience with vendor screening or monitoring platforms

  • Experience in a model risk management or independent validation context

  • Adjacent detection-tuning backgrounds are welcome — fraud rule tuning, entity resolution, identity graph, or search relevance work translates well to this role.

  • Prior experience with fintech, payments, or remittance products.
