About ngrok Inc.

ngrok is a universal gateway trusted by over 7M developers to get their apps online faster in a secure way. With just one line of code or just one command, developers can deliver their services and offload non-functional requirements such as authentication, observability, performance, and high availability. All without provisioning legacy proxies, load balancers or VPNs. ngrok’s simplicity has made it a de-facto standard tool among developers and operations teams, and the world’s top brands — including GitHub, Okta, HashiCorp, and Twilio — recommend ngrok as a key technology partner.

Our mission is to free developers and operations teams from the complexities of networking, so they can focus on creating breakthrough apps and APIs—without getting bogged down by IPs, ports, DNS, and firewall configurations. This gives you an unparalleled opportunity to drive real innovation and make a lasting impact, all while doing the most meaningful work of your career.

The opportunity

As a Senior Product Manager (PM) at ngrok, you will spearhead building the next generation of products that redefine the developer experience to increase the pace of innovation on the internet. As a pivotal link between our customers and engineering team, you’ll navigate seamlessly between the factory and the field to construct feedback loops, map problems to real features and products, write detailed product specs, test hypotheses, and deliver insights. Embracing a deeply technical product designed for an equally technical audience is essential.

  • Author product specifications based on customer use cases and prioritize the requirements
  • Bring market observations and customer feedback into technical conversations with engineering

Within 3 months

  • Charter new projects, with your role as product owner from the beginning
  • Evangelize our vision to internal and external stakeholders
  • Represent the customer and be their champion in conversations with engineering
  • Proactively seek the input you need to make critical, strategical prioritization decisions for the product roadmap

Skills

  • 8+ years of experience as an individual contributing Product Manager or developer
  • Experience product managing large distributed products
  • Excitement to move quickly and fail fast in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Software engineering background
  • Prior experience at a startup
  • Open source contributions and engagement a plus
  • Passion and empathy for building products for developer audiences, leveraging your own experience as a developer to understand their needs and challenges
  • We’d love to see a mix of experience with the following technology areas: API Gateways, Application Gateways, Software Networking, HTTP, DNS, BGP, VPC, VPN, Kubernetes, Load Balancers, Wireshark, DDoS, CDN, WAF, Firewall, Wireguard
  • Experience with API Gateways or API Management strongly preferred

Compensation

Tier 2 (rest of US) : Minimum salary of $155,000 to maximum $193,000

Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), internal equity with other team members, market data, and specific work location.
