Job Description:

AssetMark is a leading wealth management platform helping independent financial advisors deliver better outcomes for their clients and grow their businesses. More than 10,000 advisors rely on our investment solutions, technology, and services to manage and scale their practices.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior Product Manager who wants to own meaningful problems, build great products, and take personal responsibility for making them successful.

You'll own a significant area of AssetMark's technology platform, shaping how financial advisors run their businesses and serve their clients. You'll build consensus to define where your product goes, work closely with engineering and design to bring it to life, and coordinate across the organization to drive adoption and measurable business impact.

This is a hands-on role with substantial ownership. We value people who think critically, challenge assumptions, care deeply about their work, and bring the energy and persistence needed to turn good ideas into successful products.

We can only consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.

Responsibilities
  • Own the product. Set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a significant product area. Make thoughtful decisions about where to invest, what to prioritize, and what not to build.
  • Understand the problems worth solving. Develop a deep understanding of financial advisors, their workflows, and their challenges. Combine customer insights, data, and business context to identify opportunities that matter.
  • Shape solutions, not just requirements. Work hands-on with design and engineering to create intuitive experiences and solve complex technical and operational problems. Get into the details of existing systems, data flows, and legacy dependencies to design solutions that work within the realities of a complex technology platform.
  • Lead from idea through impact. Translate opportunities into actionable plans, identify upstream and downstream dependencies, and coordinate delivery across multiple teams. Stay accountable after launch for adoption, user satisfaction, and business results, with a clear understanding of how your work contributes to those outcomes.
  • Bring people along. Build strong relationships across engineering, design, sales, operations, and leadership. Tell compelling stories, adapt your communication to different audiences, and align priorities across teams—including those outside your direct area of ownership.
  • Raise the bar. Bring curiosity, sound judgment, and a relentless commitment to doing excellent work. Challenge the status quo, welcome feedback, and help the people around you get better.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must Have

  • Wealth management expertise. Meaningful experience in wealth management, asset management, or closely related fintech, with a working understanding of investment products, portfolio management, and the data and workflows that support them.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling. A demonstrated ability to turn complex problems into clear, compelling narratives; adapt seamlessly between technical and business audiences; listen actively; and influence decisions across organizational levels.
  • Technical fluency and product judgment. Hands-on experience navigating complex software systems, APIs, data flows, and legacy dependencies. The ability to work deeply with engineering on technical solutions while connecting those decisions to intuitive user experiences and business objectives.

Should Have

  • Progressive product ownership. 5+ years of product management experience, with increasing scope and responsibility, including ownership of complex products or major product areas from strategy through delivery.
  • Experience navigating organizational complexity. A track record of driving initiatives across multiple teams with competing priorities, distributed ownership, and interconnected systems - particularly in large organizations with established technology platforms.
  • Strong operational discipline. Experience maintaining actionable roadmaps, proactively communicating priorities and progress, anticipating dependencies, and keeping complex, cross-functional initiatives organized and moving forward.

Nice to Have

  • Mentorship and product leadership. Experience mentoring other product managers, strengthening product practices, or improving how product teams operate.
  • Product design and UX fluency. Strong product design instincts, with experience translating complex workflows and data into intuitive, user-friendly experiences.
  • Modern, efficient ways of working. Demonstrated ability to adopt emerging tools and technologies, including AI, to accelerate research, analysis, product design, and execution without compromising quality or judgment.
