The Senior Producer/Editor will produce, edit, and manage weekly football video content, collaborating with the newsroom and implementing graphics.

About the Role
The Athletic is looking for a video producer to join our growing video team. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for one of the fastest-growing brands in sports, an innate love of storytelling, and the ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish.
This role will be primarily focused on The Athletic’s football coverage, with a day-to-day purview based on working with game footage. Producers in this role will develop and create original video in conjunction with The Athletic’s newsroom with a prime directive of making football fans smarter. X’s and O’s breakdowns, game previews and recaps, and video essays will all be part of the expected output for this position. The ideal candidate will be particularly well-versed in social video; You should know what works on different platforms, who is doing well in the space, and come to work armed with creative ideas.
This role will require regular video editing, and candidates must have strong skills editing in Adobe Premiere and familiarity with Adobe After Effects.
This role is 100% remote for candidates currently residing in the United States or Canada.
Responsibilities
- Pre-production collaboration with the The Athletic’s newsroom.
- Contribute to new content ideation/creation.
- Produce and edit weekly football video content.
- Ability to implement pre-built graphics packages. Ability to build basic graphics is a major plus.
- Coordinate content and promotion planning with Athletic staffers across audio, video, editorial, social and programming teams.
- Perform basic social channel management tasks like uploading, scheduling and publishing.
- Be part of a peer review system with your colleagues.
- Sometimes shoot talent in studio.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in video production, preferably in sports.
- Deep well of knowledge of the NFL media landscape, including tactics, memes, and personalities.
- Must have experience editing in Adobe Premiere.
- Familiarity with Adobe After Effects preferred.
- Basic proficiency in color correction, audio mixing preferred.
- Some experience shooting with DSLRs and basic lighting.
- Experience fostering a culture of creativity and experimentation.
- A track record of setting and exceeding both individual and team goals.
- This is a remote position.
The annual base salary range for this role is $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
