You will develop and analyze safety requirements for NVIDIA's autonomous transportation platforms, ensuring the integration of safety goals and innovative solutions in embedded systems, through technical safety concepts and methods like FMEA and FTA.
The summary above was generated by AI

NVIDIA – “the AI computing company” is developing a ground-breaking AI-based full stack for autonomous transportation and base platform to support it. This requires a ground-breaking approach to functional safety in the underlying DRIVE platform, including scheduling and management of synchronization and diverse HW compute engines, full platform error reporting and degradation, system state management and fail-operational features. Be ready to question established practices which may no longer be applicable!

We are seeking outstanding engineers to lead efforts developing the next generation of safe, AI-powered autonomous driving platforms. The focus is on functional safety of the compute, communications, and software platform on which NVIDIA's autonomous products are built. Do you have a desire to work at the confluence of NVIDIA's application stack and the OEM vehicle platforms? Come and be part of a team developing and aligning safety architecture and requirements across NVIDIA and with all our customers!

What you'll be doing:

  • Work closely with other teams of safety engineers both at NVIDIA and our customers to derive Compute Platform Safety Requirements through analysis of Technical Safety Requirements and the capabilities of the underlying hardware and software.

  • Analyze and refine the safety architecture down the left side of the V-Model by establishing requirement traceability from the Application to the DRIVE Platform.

  • Develop technical safety concepts (TSC, TSRs, SSRs) for Platform software functions such as state management, error and degradation, graph execution, sensor processing, and start-up / shutdown functionalities.

  • We will look to you to ensure the integration of the Autonomous Driving Applications and the underlying platform services meet all defined safety goals.

  • Find opportunities for innovation and automation to improve efficiency.

What we need to see:

  • BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years (or equivalent) experience in systems architecture or related fields.

  • We seek technically strong engineers who bring experience in safety analysis of embedded systems at low level and can find the right level of abstraction adapted to the tasks in hand.

  • Experience with safety analysis methods (e.g. FMEA, FTA) for complex software and hardware platforms.

  • Familiarity with safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO/PAS 21448)

  • Experience in the redaction of safety requirements and/or other safety collateral such as safety manuals and safety reports in an agile environment

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Hands-on experience with systems engineering methodologies such as model-based approaches, peer review processes, risk management, requirements verification and traceability, validation and verification, and architectural decomposition.

  • Strong background in software & hardware automotive ECU architecture. Experience in development of safety architectures for Sensor subsystems (Camera, LIDAR, Ultrasonics, Radar)

  • Ability to understand and perform high-level, safety orientated, analysis of modern C++ codebases and API specifications at different levels

  • Knowledge of embedded operating systems (e.g. QNX) is especially valued.

  • Track record of adaptation of common safety standards to AI-based and high complexity systems.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 148,000 USD - 235,750 USD for Level 3, and 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD for Level 4.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.

Applications for this job will be accepted at least until August 18, 2025.NVIDIA is committed to fostering a diverse work environment and proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
