We’re looking for a Senior Motion Designer to join Engine, Code and Theory’s creative production studio. In this role, you’ll bring concepts to life through sophisticated motion design across a wide range of campaign, brand, and product work.

This is a hands-on role for a designer who understands how movement enhances storytelling, strengthens brand identity, and brings digital experiences to life. You’ll collaborate with art directors, visual designers, UX teams, and technologists to create content that’s not only beautiful—but purposeful, functional, and scalable.

You’re as comfortable animating high-impact social cutdowns as you are building out modular motion systems. You know how to tell a story in five seconds or frame a brand moment with elegance and energy. You take pride in polish, but you’re also curious and experimental—interested in emerging tools, automation workflows, and new ways to build motion into modern content systems.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop storyboards, styleframes, and motion studies that clearly communicate animation intent and bring creative concepts to life.
  • Design and animate on-brand content across a variety of formats—campaign films, product animations, social videos, modular templates, and digital experiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including art directors, UX designers, developers, and strategists—to ensure motion aligns with broader creative and product goals.
  • Contribute to the development of motion design systems and toolkits—building scalable frameworks that support consistency and efficiency across high-volume output.
  • Maintain organized project files and workflows that allow for repeatability, quick iteration, and collaboration across teams.
  • Explore generative and automation-assisted design tools to improve creative workflows and outputs.
  • Provide creative input and animation expertise throughout all phases of production—from concepting to QA.
  • Offer guidance and feedback to junior designers, helping foster a culture of continuous learning and elevated craft.
  • Stay current with new tools, formats, and platform standards in motion design—and bring new techniques back to the team.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Professional experience in motion design at a creative agency, production studio, or content-forward brand.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing motion work across brand, campaign, and product storytelling—including both polished final pieces and process artifacts.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Figma.
  • A reasonable knowledge with 3D design tools such as Cinema 4D or Blender, and/or real-time engines like Unreal or Unity is a plus.
  • Comfortable collaborating with designers, copywriters, and developers to create integrated, cross-disciplinary work.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present work clearly and constructively to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with Rive or designing interactive UI animations.
  • Background in editing, 3D animation, or sound design.
  • Familiarity with post-production workflows and deliverable optimization for various formats.
  • You elevate the creative bar across projects by bringing nuance, rhythm, and craft to every motion piece.
  • You build scalable motion frameworks that help teams produce consistent, high-quality output across formats.
  • You’re a trusted collaborator—known for your reliability, problem-solving mindset, and creative sharpness.
  • You inspire and mentor others by sharing knowledge, tools, and techniques that make the whole team better.
