Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead the enterprise data governance strategy and operating model to ensure data is trusted, secure, compliant, and usable across the organization.

  • Define, implement, and continuously enhance enterprise data governance policies, standards, controls, and best practices.

  • Establish and chair enterprise data governance councils, domain forums, and decision-making bodies to resolve data issues and align priorities.

  • Design and operationalize a domain-based data ownership and stewardship model with clear accountability across business and technology teams.

  • Define critical data elements, business glossaries, canonical definitions, and data standards to improve consistency across domains and systems.

  • Establish enterprise data quality standards, metrics, thresholds, and remediation processes to improve accuracy, completeness, and reliability.

  • Oversee metadata management, data cataloging, lineage, and traceability capabilities to improve transparency and discoverability of enterprise data assets.

  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Information Security, Risk, and Technology teams to align governance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee data risk monitoring, issue escalation, control effectiveness, and remediation activities, including support for audits and regulatory reviews as needed.

  • Embed governance practices into day-to-day business processes, analytics delivery, and digital transformation programs.

  • Partner with analytics and AI leaders to ensure enterprise data is discoverable, reliable, compliant, and AI-ready for training, testing, and production use cases.

  • Define governance expectations for AI-related data, including lineage, quality, explainability, and responsible use considerations.

  • Build a culture of data ownership, stewardship, literacy, and accountability through training, communications, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Establish and report governance KPIs/KRIs, progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership and governance committees.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or data strategy, including experience leading enterprise-scale programs.

  • Strong expertise in data governance frameworks, stewardship, metadata, lineage, data quality, and modern/cloud data platforms; familiarity with governance tooling is preferred.

  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive cross-functional change across business, technology, risk, compliance, and analytics functions.

Preferences:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

  • Understanding of risk governance, 1LoD/2LoD, etc...

  • Familiarity with Collibra or similar data catalogue tools
