About Us

Our mission is to raise AGI with the richness of human intelligence — curious, witty, imaginative, and full of unexpected brilliance.

Surge was founded by engineers and researchers who dreamed of building the next generation AI. We’re building a platform that powers the world's most powerful models in partnership with companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and Google.

At Surge, we believe the path to AGI isn’t just about scaling compute—it’s about embracing the unlimited ceiling of human intelligence and creativity in the data that shapes these systems. Our platform combines elite human expertise with cutting-edge tools for scalable oversight, from building rich RL environments to conducting rigorous evaluations that go beyond benchmarks. We’ve run a profitable business from day one without raising venture funding.

The Role

We’re looking for a rare operator — someone who can walk in, figure out what needs to happen, build the plan, and execute it. No playbook required. You’ll own growth initiatives end-to-end across recruiting, reactivation, and new audience acquisition at Surge AI. You’ll work across functions, bring structure to ambiguous problems, and drive outcomes without hand-holding.

What You’ll Own
  • GM: You’ll own acquisition, reactivation, and retention efforts across contributor pools, with a relentless focus on quality. Partner with an Operational Owner to ensure volume and speed targets are met- consistently.

  • Platform engagement: Own the strategy and execution for increasing the amount of work done on the Surge platform — identifying levers, running experiments, and scaling what works.

  • Workforce recruiting: Define and lead the approach for acquiring specialized contributors — accountants, coders, and other skilled workers — through marketing and non-marketing channels (i.e. partnerships, conferences, community groups) alike.

  • Reactivation: Build and own the strategy to re-engage lapsed workforce segments, from diagnosis through execution and iteration.

  • Cross-functional project management: Manage assigned initiatives from kickoff to outcome, aligning stakeholders across teams without losing momentum.

  • Channel experimentation: Test and learn across paid, organic, partnerships, and non-marketing levers for each problem you own. Know what’s working and double down.

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Strong data and analytical skills: You make decisions from data. You can pull your own numbers, build models, identify trends, and communicate their meaning to any audience. This is a hard requirement.

  • AI / LLM knowledge: You have familiarity with the AI ecosystem — how models are built, evaluated, and improved — and can speak credibly to the space.

  • Paid and organic channel experience: You’ve run campaigns across both paid and organic channels and understand the tradeoffs between them.

  • Exceptional communication: You write clearly, speak concisely, and can align stakeholders across functions without anyone feeling out of the loop.

  • Comfort with ambiguity: You don’t wait for a perfect brief. You scope the problem, form a hypothesis, and get moving. You update as you learn.

  • Ownership mentality: You track your work, manage your deadlines, and don’t let things slip. You close the loop without being asked.

  • Fast-paced by default: You’re energized (not drained) by a moving target. Changing priorities don’t derail you — they’re just part of the job.

  • Cross-functional fluency: You know how to work with product, ops, engineering, and leadership. You build trust quickly across teams.

  • Senior-level experience: You’ve owned something end-to-end before. You know what “good” looks like because you’ve built it.

Nice to Have

  • Coding ability or strong technical literacy

  • Two-sided marketplace or platform experience
