Position Summary:
The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and presenting consolidated global financial statements, supporting external reporting requirements, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies. This role partners closely with regional accounting teams, FP&A, operational finance, and external auditors to deliver accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting for Vallen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated global financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and presentation materials for Board reporting, including Income Statement, Cash Flow, Working Capital, and Cash Bridge analysis for review by Sr. Manager of Financial reporting and delivery to CFO and Board of Directors
- Coordinate with regional accounting teams and support the translation and consolidation of foreign entity financial results
- Support external reporting requirements, including year-end audit coordination, financial statement footnotes, and disclosures
- Perform complex account reconciliations and financial analyses; investigate, resolve, and document variances
- Maintain, document, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Collaborate with FP&A, tax, and operational accounting teams to ensure accuracy and consistency in financial reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies within financial reporting and close processes
- Manage technical accounting execution in accordance with FASB/GAAP codification, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and other complex accounting matters as required
- Conduct technical accounting research, prepare formal accounting memos, and provide guidance on accounting treatment for contracts and transactions
- Support Workday Adaptive Planning for actuals and partner closely with FP&A on reporting and system governance
- Utilize reporting and report building functionality of Workday Adaptive Planning to streamline consolidation process and deliver ad-hoc reports to business partners.
- Support the monthly close process and day-to-day general accounting activities
- Perform other duties as assigned by departmental leadership
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation
- Experience with consolidated financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA strongly preferred
- Experience in a multi-entity, distribution, manufacturing, or shared services environment
- Prior public accounting experience
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Infor SXE, Workday Adaptive, Epicor)
