Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company. To help our teams work together effectively, this role requires you to be located in India.
Your future team
You will lead an engineering team within Atlassian's Jira Service Management (JSM) - IT Operations organization-one of our fastest-growing cloud portfolios and a recognized leader in the modern ITSM/ITOM market.
Our team is on a mission to transform how engineering and IT teams detect, respond to, resolve, and prevent incidents at enterprise scale. We build and run mission-critical, high-throughput, and highly reliable services (powering alerting, on-call scheduling, incident orchestration, and mobile experiences) that thousands of global organizations depend on 24/7.
You'll be part of a distributed, highly collaborative triad (Engineering, Product, and Design). We value technical excellence, operational rigor, and continuous innovation-including modern agentic workflows and automated testing-to ship world-class experiences at high velocity.
In this role, you will
  • Be responsible for high-quality software delivery, grow individuals and groom leaders on the team and contribute to architecture
  • Partner closely with Product and Design to define roadmaps, shape customer-centric solutions, and measure impact
  • Identify blockers, goals, success metrics ensuring awareness, OKR/roadmap awareness, and expectations
  • Guide technical and architectural decisions, balancing speed, reliability, and long-term maintainability
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and feedback, and build an inclusive, high-performing team culture

Your background
  • 12+ years of experience managing software engineers, including leading high-performing teams in production environments
  • Strong technical background with recent hands-on coding experience; you understand how to design, review, and debug production systems and can still write code when needed
  • Experience building and operating large-scale, cloud-based web or SaaS products (e.g. microservices, distributed systems)
  • Proven track record of partnering with Product Management and Design to deliver customer-facing features end-to-end
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in a distributed, cross-functional environment
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. We follow consistent hiring practices and account for each candidate's skills, knowledge, and experience when setting base pay within the range.
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
