JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Director, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting is a senior finance leader responsible for restoring and sustaining confidence in the Company’s financial reporting and internal control environment following identified material weaknesses and a financial restatement. 

This role leads complex technical accounting, and all external financial reporting workstreams for SEC reporting, external debt reporting and franchisor reporting. The Senior Director reports to the VP of Financial Reporting while partnering with the SOX controls team, Legal, Controlling, and external auditors to execute remediation plans, strengthen SOX compliance, and establish a timely and accurate, well‑controlled reporting infrastructure for a publicly traded, multi-national, multi-brand franchisor with company operated stores. 

 How you will Own It:

Technical Accounting & Policy Leadership 

  • Act as a leader regarding US GAAP and SEC accounting guidance and support alignment with reporting for securitized debt, franchise disclosure documents, and local statutory reporting requirements where applicable. 

  • Build sustainable processes for technical accounting for complex and judgmental transactions, including: 

  • Revenue recognition (including multi‑element and cross‑border arrangements) 

  • Business combinations, divestitures, and carve‑outs 

  • Stock‑based compensation 

  • Debt, equity, and derivatives 

  • Sale-leasebacks, goodwill, restructurings, and discontinued operations 

  • Own the development, maintenance, and rollout of formal accounting policies and procedures, ensuring consistency, clarity, and audit defensibility. 

  • Monitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory developments and lead controlled, timely global adoption. 

Financial Reporting & SEC Oversight 

  • Lead multiple reporting teams to prepare, review, and file of SEC reports (Forms 10K, 10Q, 8K), securitized debt reporting, and franchisor reporting 

  • Strengthen global close, review, and disclosure controls to support accurate, timely, and repeatable reporting. 

  • Partner with Legal and Investor Relations to ensure clear, consistent external financial communications. 

  • Implement best practices to generate timely financial statements that leverage systematic reporting capabilities. 

SOX, Risk & Governance 

  • Strengthen management review controls, system‑dependent controls, and technical accounting review processes. 

  • Proactively identify emerging risks and lead continuous improvement beyond initial remediation. 

Leadership & Change Management 

  • Build and lead a high‑performing team across technical accounting and financial reporting. 

  • Serve as a calm, credible leader while building a culture of discipline, accountability, customer service, and documentation rigor across all teams that operate as one finance team focused on sustainable process excellence. 

  

  What you’ll Bring:

Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required 

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, or audit 

  • Deep expertise in US GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX 404 

  • Proven experience with best practices for public company reporting and technical accounting processes 

  • Proven experience re-designing processes for sustainable time management and leadership of high-performing teams 

  • Big Four public accounting firm experience required 

Preferred 

  • Background in complex, multinational public companies  

  • Background with securitized debt reporting 

  • Background in franchisor accounting and reporting 

  • Global EPM implementation, optimization, or remediationdriven process redesign experience for accounting monitoring processes and improved speed-to-close

  • Reports to: VP of Financial Reporting 

  • Key partners: CAO, Controlling, Tax, SOX Governance, FP&A, Internal Audit, IT, Legal, Real Estate, and auditors
