Senior Director, Emerging Science & Pipeline Strategy Marketing Community Lead

As the Senior Director, Emerging Science & Pipeline Strategy Marketing Community Lead, you are accountable for shaping the future HCP commercial portfolio through early commercialization strategy, customer ecosystem development, launch readiness, and transition planning across emerging assets and strategic opportunities.

Reporting to the VP, HCP Experience, you will partner closely with Therapeutic Community Leads, Indication Strategy Leads, Customer Engagement & Experience, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Business Development, Insights, and other enterprise partners to bring commercial and customer perspective into emerging opportunities, inform asset and development decisions, and prepare assets to transition successfully into therapeutic communities.

Roles & Responsibilities

Emerging Science & Pipeline Strategy

  • Lead HCP commercial strategy across pipeline assets, future indications, exploratory opportunities, partnerships / licensing opportunities, and other strategic opportunities.

  • Translate enterprise HCP Experience priorities into early commercialization strategies that support launch readiness, customer ecosystem development, portfolio growth, and informed investment decisions.

  • Maintain the community-level view of emerging customer needs, therapeutic landscapes, KOL networks, academic centers, referral dynamics, and other stakeholders shaping future market development.

  • Assess emerging opportunities and provide commercial perspective on relative priority, customer opportunity, readiness, resource needs, and strategic optionality.

  • Partner with asset, development, Medical Affairs, Business Development, and commercial teams to ensure customer and ecosystem insights inform asset strategy, evidence planning, launch planning, and market development.

  • Elevate emerging customer, scientific, market, and pipeline insights to senior leaders to inform prioritization and investment decisions.

Customer Ecosystem, Launch Readiness & Transition

  • Develop an integrated Emerging Science & Pipeline Strategy plan connecting customer insights, KOL strategy, launch readiness, pipeline opportunities, and cross-functional priorities.

  • Lead early customer planning, including ecosystem mapping, emerging KOL identification, academic center prioritization, and customer journey implications.

  • Shape early HCP education and engagement approaches in partnership with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Customer Engagement & Experience, Insights, and TLL leadership.

  • Establish launch and transition readiness criteria for movement of assets into Neurology, Rheumatology, or future therapeutic communities.

  • Lead transition planning to ensure customer ecosystem continuity, clear handoffs, resource readiness, and accountability as assets move into scaled execution.

  • Monitor scientific, market, customer, and competitive dynamics and adjust priorities and transition plans as the pipeline evolves.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Capability Building

  • Serve as a senior HCP marketing and commercialization leader across emerging science, pipeline strategy, and early commercialization.

  • Build strong partnerships across Therapeutic Communities, Portfolio Marketing, Customer Engagement & Experience, Field, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Business Development, Market Access, Patient Experience, Digital, Insights, and other enterprise functions.

  • Align priorities, resolve emerging asset and launch-readiness trade-offs, and ensure progress against Emerging Science & Pipeline Strategy priorities.

  • Champion data-enabled and AI-supported approaches that improve early commercialization and pipeline decision-making.

  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports and your network of empowered teams, building capability in customer insight, pipeline prioritization, ecosystem shaping, early commercialization, and launch readiness.

  • Foster a culture of customer-centricity, accountability, collaboration, innovation, strong compliance, and sound judgment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Deep understanding of HCP marketing, early commercialization, pipeline strategy, customer engagement, launch readiness, and lifecycle management in complex healthcare markets.

  • Strong ability to understand and shape emerging scientific ecosystems, KOL networks, academic centers, referral dynamics, and future customer communities.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate competing pipeline opportunities, assess commercial readiness, and make clear recommendations across emerging assets.

  • Experience translating emerging science, customer insight, and market dynamics into commercialization implications and actions.

  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to synthesize scientific, customer, market, and cross-functional input into clear direction.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, resolve trade-offs, and lead effectively in a complex network of empowered teams.

  • Strong leadership presence and ability to coach, develop, and inspire teams through ambiguity and change.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • BA/BS required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Approximately 15+ years of relevant biotech or pharmaceutical commercial experience, including significant leadership in early commercialization, pipeline strategy, HCP marketing, launch planning, therapeutic area strategy, or portfolio strategy.

  • Demonstrated leadership across pipeline strategy, early commercialization, launch readiness, and therapeutic area strategy across multiple assets, indications, or lifecycle stages.

  • Experience prioritizing emerging opportunities and leading complex, matrixed work across multiple assets, functions, and competing priorities.

  • Strong understanding of HCP customer journeys, KOL engagement, disease-state education, customer ecosystem development, and launch readiness in specialty, rare disease, biologics, or similarly complex markets.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, develop talent, and manage complex commercialization initiatives through growth, ambiguity, and change.

For applicants in the United States: The annual base salary hiring range for this position is $236,000.00 - $324,500.00 USD. This range reflects our good faith estimate at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined using objective, inclusive, and job-related criteria such as relevant experience, skills, demonstrated competencies and internal equity. This means actual pay may differ from the posted range when justified by these factors. Because market conditions evolve, pay ranges are reviewed regularly and may be adjusted to remain aligned with external benchmarks.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term and long-term incentive programs, subject to the terms and conditions of those plans and applicable policies. It also includes a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to retirement savings plans, health benefits and other benefits subject to the terms of the applicable plans and program guidelines.
