Project Description:The Client is consolidating two legacy client portals into a single modern platform, bringing feature parity ahead of client migration. Stack: PHP (Laravel), RabbitMQ, MySQL, Nuxt.js (Vue.js) on AWS.
Requirements:- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience, with strong hands-on PHP expertise
- Deep expertise in PHP 8.x and Laravel (or comparable modern frameworks)
- Solid experience with RabbitMQ and event-driven architecture
- Strong MySQL skills — schema design, query optimization, performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with AWS services
- Experience with Nuxt.js / Vue.js and comfort working across the stack
- Strong understanding of testing practices — unit, feature, and integration testing (PHPUnit / Pest)
- Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows
- Ability to work in a distributed, multi-timezone team (US / UK / Brazil)
- Excellent English communication skills
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum / Kanban
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor)
- Background in SaaS, multi-tenant platforms, or large-scale B2B portals
- Design, develop, and deliver high-quality PHP / Laravel code for the portal feature parity workstream
- Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decisions alongside the Tech Lead
- Work across the stack where needed, including Nuxt.js / Vue.js frontend components
- Write clean, testable code with appropriate unit and feature test coverage
- Participate in code reviews, sharing knowledge and maintaining code quality standards
- Break down user stories into technical tasks; estimate effort during sprint planning
- Collaborate closely with QA to enable test automation and catch regressions early
- Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to root-cause analysis
- Engage with Client engineering counterparts in US / UK / Brazil on integration points and delivery milestones
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, retros, demos)
