Living our values everyday results in our team-first culture and enables us to innovate, grow, and thrive while enjoying the journey together. We celebrate diversity and foster an inclusive environment, empowering our employees to be their authentic selves.

We are actively seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Cloud Operations team. This is a high-impact role at the center of Five9’s next-generation platform — you’ll help shape the infrastructure, tooling, and developer experience that powers our cloud contact center at scale. We’re looking for an engineer who thrives with high ownership, independently structures and executes complex problems with minimal direction, and brings intellectual curiosity and sound judgment to everything they build.

Our developer tooling ecosystem is built in Go and Python. Candidates with Go experience will hit the ground running and have the opportunity to shape how we build and evolve that platform.
Key responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain public and private cloud infrastructure with a focus on reliability, scalability, and developer productivity
  • Build and maintain internal developer environment tooling, primarily in Go and Python, to accelerate engineering workflows and reduce friction across the SDLC
  • Drive automation initiatives that improve availability, reduce toil, and increase operational efficiency across Five9’s cloud platform
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced environment, contributing technical depth to architecture and implementation decisions
  • Monitor production and development environments, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact customers
  • Contribute to incident response, SRE practices, and continuous improvement efforts to lower MTTD and MTTR
  • Help define and evolve the platform engineering roadmap as Five9 scales its infrastructure for the next phase of growth
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of Software Development Life Cycle experience, preferably in Agile/Scrum environments
  • 5+ years of public cloud experience (GCP or AWS)
  • 3+ years of systems and networking experience
  • Strong proficiency with Kubernetes, Helm, GKE, and Docker; experience with ArgoCD and GitOps workflows is essential
  • Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems
  • Proficiency in Python and/or other scripting languages; experience with Go (Golang) is a strong plus
  • Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling including GitLab, Jenkins, Spinnaker, or similar
  • Familiarity with config management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
  • Experience with Incident Management processes and SRE best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to independently scope, prioritize, and execute complex infrastructure projects with minimal oversight
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience with SIP telephony (Freeswitch, Asterisk, Kamailio, WebRTC) is a plus
