The Senior Corporate Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing internal and external reports, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The Senior Corporate Accountant plays a key role in month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger management, and special projects to support senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions across departments.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Partner with internal teams and external auditors to gather information and respond to financial inquiries.
- Support tax-related reporting and documentation in collaboration with the internal tax team.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist with consolidated reporting and internal reporting packages for executive management.
- Analyze and explain variances between actual and budgeted results.
- Record acquisition, disposition, and other complex accounting transactions.
- Support the preparation of audit schedules and respond to audit requests.
- Assist in the development of corporate budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze financial data to support capital planning and strategic decision-making.
- Review and interpret financial performance trends, providing insights and recommendations.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses for senior leadership and finance teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA-track preferred).
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong foundation in both real estate and corporate accounting environments preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software systems.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; capable of working independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present financial information.
