Why Rescale

Rescale is the platform engineering and science teams use to run their hardest computational work. Companies in manufacturing, life sciences, and energy use us to run high-performance computing, modeling and simulation, and AI workloads on cloud and hybrid infrastructure, with the workflow tooling, data connectivity, and AI on top. We're moving from an HPC platform to a full digital engineering platform, and the open, infrastructure-agnostic design is a core reason customers pick us.

You'd join at a real inflection point. The product is expanding into agentic engineering, AI physics, and data intelligence, the enterprise customer base is growing, and the legal work that supports all of it is growing with it.

The role

You'll serve as the primary point-of-contact for the GTM team and negotiate commercial contracts including customer agreements, DPAs, order forms, partner and reseller agreements, vendor contracts, and NDAs. You'll run priority commercial work independently, carry the day-to-day volume, and know when to escalate.

As an early member of the legal team, you'll help establish the legal infrastructure to scale: playbooks and templates, contract automation, AI-assisted review and drafting, earlier product counseling, and more mature privacy and compliance operations. We are looking for a builder - someone willing to experiment and help build an AI native legal team.

What you'll do
  • Draft, review, and negotiate the commercial book: SaaS customer agreements, order forms, DPAs, partner and channel agreements, vendor contracts, and NDAs.

  • Run deals end to end as the legal point of contact, pulling in finance, security, product, and engineering when a deal needs them.

  • Maintain the standard legal toolkit: MSA, DPA, NDA, and SOW templates, negotiation playbooks, and self-service paths so sales can move on routine paper without waiting on legal.

  • Design and stand up AI and automation workflows for contract intake, review, and drafting.

  • Train and equip GTM and cross-functional teams so good legal judgment is built into how the business operates from the start.

What you bring
  • A JD and active bar admission in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction.

  • 5+ years of commercial transactional experience, in-house or at a firm, with real depth in SaaS and technology agreements. Time inside a software or technology company is a plus.

  • A track record of running commercial deals independently and getting to signature without hand-holding.

  • Strong legal operations instincts. You think about process, templates, and automation, not just the contract in front of you, and you've built or improved a contracting process before.

  • Sound business judgment. You know which battles matter, you redline pragmatically, and you frame risk in terms the business can act on.

  • Fluency with privacy requirements in commercial contracting, including DPAs, data-handling terms, and cross-border transfer obligations.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. You write clearly and translate legal issues into terms the business can act on.

  • Comfort in a fast-moving, lean team where you own outcomes and figure things out.

Bonus: experience with AI products, counseling product and engineering teams, export control, or government and public sector contracting.
