  • Assess request quality, completeness, technical feasibility, and downstream operational impact, ensuring readiness before entering development pipelines.

  • Break down complex reporting needs into well-defined user stories, requirements packages, support items, or backlog entries.

  • Partner with stakeholders to prioritize requests based on business value, client impact, risk, and effort.

  • Surface opportunities to convert recurring requests into standardized reporting assets, self-service solutions, or reusable file/report offerings.

Business Analysis & Requirements Leadership

  • Lead full lifecycle business analysis activities, including planning, elicitation, documentation, validation, and communication of requirements.

  • Ensure clear traceability from business need to requirement definition to report solution.

  • Define and document data logic, business rules, file/report specifications, and calculation methodologies for reporting solutions.

  • Validate requirements with stakeholders to ensure alignment prior to development and support user acceptance testing to confirm accuracy and usability.

  • Partner with production support, operations, and technical teams to investigate issues, identify trends, and recommend process or reporting improvements.

Strategic Reporting Alignment

  • Translate business needs into standardized, scalable reporting solutions, minimizing one-off or redundant requests

    • Identify opportunities to: Consolidate reports, introduce reusable data assets, improve consistency in KPIs and definitions

  • Align reporting requests with broader enterprise data, reporting, and governance frameworks

  • Contribute to defining reporting architecture, data relationships, and cross-functional metrics alignment

Process Optimization & Delivery Efficiency

  • Continuously improve the reporting intake and grooming process, driving efficiency, transparency, and quality

    • Identify trends in incoming requests to recommend: Automation opportunities and standard dashboards or self-service solutions

  • Support effort estimation and cost/benefit analysis for reporting initiatives

  • Ensure efficient handoff from business analysis to development teams

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and analytics/data teams

  • Communicate complex technical and data concepts in clear, business-friendly language

  • Influence stakeholders to refine and prioritize requests in alignment with enterprise goals

  • Drive alignment across cross-functional teams on reporting definitions and outcomes

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor junior analysts on best practices in requirements gathering, grooming, and reporting analysis

  • Establish standards and templates for intake, documentation, and backlog management

  • Contribute to building a high-performing, intake-driven analytics operating model

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, reporting, analytics, production support, or related business systems environments.

  • Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting requirements for reporting solutions, data exchanges, system enhancements, or operational support needs.

  • Experience assessing issue trends, identifying root causes, and recommending practical process improvements.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Expert-level requirements grooming and intake management.

  • Strong analytical thinking with ability to translate business needs into reporting, data, or file-based solutions.

  • Deep understanding of reporting logic, metrics definition, data structures, and business process dependencies.

  • Ability to manage ambiguity, resolve issues, and drive clarity in loosely defined requests.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder relationship management skills.

  • Experience with tools such as Excel, Tableau, service management platforms, and other reporting or workflow tools.

Preferred Qualifications
