What you’ll be doing
The Senior Audit Manager will focus on leading the US Compliance and AML Audit team under the direction of the Audit Senior Director and Director, conducting audits focused on consumer protection, safety and soundness, financial crimes or legal related matters. The Senior Audit Manager develops strong relationships with l business partners to obtain an understanding of the risks facing the organization and stay close to new developments impacting the business. Additionally, the Internal Audit Director role will be responsible for leading, directing, evaluating, and developing audit professionals to ensure audit activities are conducted to high standards of accuracy, rigor, and credibility and according to regulations and industry standards.

How you’ll succeed
 

The Senior Audit Manager is a professional responsible for delivering core audit services within the designated line of business and promoting the goal of improving the overall system of internal controls at CIBC.

  • Provide oversight in the execution of the audit plan through the review of detailed project plans that effectively incorporate appropriate risks, scope, staffing requirements, deliverables, timelines, budgets and client availability

  • Demonstrate a forward-looking mindset to anticipate what is needed to timely meet objectives and department needs

  • Oversee and manage multiple engagements at one time

  • Guide department personnel in their careers and provide learning opportunities through coaching and mentoring activities

  • Provide guidance to the team in all phases of an audit as needed

  • Prepare or review meaningful, relevant, and well-supported audit reports

  • Effectively communicate findings to various levels of management

  • Contribute to the positive and team-oriented culture by maintaining cooperative relationships (assisting other project teams when necessary), facilitating the resolution of conflicts, sharing information, and accepting and providing feedback

  • Work closely with management to promptly resolve any concerns that may arise and build trust.

  • Demonstrate commitment to professional growth by assuming progressively more challenging assignments (in-line with standard audit career progression), proactively seeking relevant education and training opportunities, and expanding professional network

  • Ensure compliance with IIA Standards

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required

  • Professional certification such as Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), is preferred

  • Experience working in an Internal Audit department at a large US bank focusing on audits of the financial crimes, broker dealer, wealth management or consumer protection function

  • Strong knowledge of US regulatory requirements, including those related to financial crimes, consumer protection, broker dealer, wealth management, safety and soundness

  • 8+ years of relevant, progressive experience

  • Ability to work independently in areas of difficult or complex nature

  • Project management skills, including the ability to manage shifting priorities

  • Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and relationship building skills

  • High level of expertise in collaboration and communication with internal and external parties

  • Exemplify a positive attitude, strong work ethic, team work and professionalism

  • Ability to travel (10%)

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $120,000 - $150,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
