Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

One of the Coinbase Product Partnership’s biggest priorities is focused on maximizing the value that Coinbase generates through strategic product partnerships with banks, financial services firms, fintechs, and crypto firms that power the financial structure behind all of our consumer, institutional, and developer products. These relationships are critical to the health and growth of Coinbase. In some cases you’ll work closely with product management to define the requirements for a successful partnership and identify partners based on those traits. In other cases you’ll be out on your own - in close contact with senior leadership - to look around corners nobody else knows about and proactively share new ways for Coinbase to enter international markets. We’re looking for a dynamic, creative, and highly ambitious contributor who wants to take ownership and sign landmark deals that pave the way for Coinbase to enter new markets, and be seen as an indispensable business leader by every function. This role will focus on the Coinbase Onramps and Coinbase Wallet products, and address the current friction in fiat to/from crypto conversions.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Develop and execute the partnership strategy for Coinbase Onramps that will support its growth, international expansion and ability to serve developers with best-in-class payments services
  • Work independently to lead cross-functional partnership initiatives, working with product, finance, comms, compliance, legal, policy, and marketing
  • Own all elements of the partnership life cycle:  scoping of opportunities, identifying potential partners,  framing of value, negotiating agreements,  and implementation and optimization
  • Maintain healthy and productive relationships with partners, resolving business, policy and technical issues.
  • Bring deals across the finish line in a self-directed manner

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • You enjoy and excel at working cross-functionally to deliver results through partnerships
  • You have shown the ability to build and manage relationships with product and business leaders, internally and externally
  • You are not afraid of regulated industries and working through complex international regulatory matters that affect your leverage and speed to market
  • You have a solid understanding of the payments stack, and international experience working in it
  • You have great strategic instincts and can exercise good judgment in ambiguous situations
  • You’ve been successful in negotiating a broad set of different types of deals
  • You have great interpersonal and communications skills
  • You’re intellectually curious and think in a structured way
  • 5+ years of work experience in business development/partnerships
  • Experience in crypto business development, product or growth a plus

Nice to haves:

  • Work at a crypto start-up
