Position Summary

The Financial Accounting team supports Deriva Energy’s business.  Team members actively partner with the business to support a growing portfolio of non-regulated renewable assets.  The Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for monthly close, analyzing account reconciliations, facilitating certain cash receipts and payments each period and performing assigned internal SOX controls. This role requires familiarity with a variety of accounting concepts, practices and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong attributes for accuracy, process improvement, and will be highly detail oriented. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly general ledger closing for assigned projects/financings and accounting processes

  • Perform cash analysis for certain payments from assigned projects 

  • Complete account reconciliations for assigned solar and wind operating projects, as well as financings. 

  • Analyze financial information and recognize significant variances, trends and irregularities; understand causes/drivers, and summarize concisely to management 

  • Interact and support site operating personnel, corporate personnel, external auditors, vendors and consultants as required 

  • Maintain Fixed Asset Subledger and depreciation schedules 

  • Assist project development team with project code creation and project spend 

  • Assist with lease calculations and schedules in accordance with ASC 842 

  • Assist in the preparation for the annual budgets 

  • Support the growth of the business, development of new accounting systems, controls, and processes

  • Become knowledgeable of assigned projects/portfolios by reviewing/understanding financing and partnership agreements

  • Complete ad hoc requests for internal and external parties or special projects, as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline 

  • Three (3) years or more of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree 

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or working toward achieving their CPA 

  • Five (5) years or more of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field 

  • One (1) year or more of preparing fixed asset related transactions

  • Strong technical skills and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP 

  • Public accounting experience (Big Four/large regional) 

  • Experience with company consolidation and limited liability company/partnership accounting 

  • Experience analyzing CWIP costing 

  • Experience with ASC 842 Lease Accounting 

  • Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures 

  • Experience with financial applications (i.e., NetSuite, IFS, OneStream, SSAS Cubes, etc.) 

  • Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Power BI, and Power Point 

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills 

  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills 

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and foster good relationships with teammates and business partners
