Description
Engrain builds map-based tech that's redefining how real estate works. Our interactive, unit-level maps and powerful data integrations help over 1,000 companies-and 20,000 properties-to make smarter decisions, streamline leasing, and deliver better renter experiences. From prospect to renewal, our products give properties a spatial brain and a visual edge when it comes to property marketing and management. And it's working: our churn rate is just 5%, and we've been putting up double-digit growth numbers every year.
We're not your typical proptech company. We move fast, we stay curious, and we don't do stale or corporate fluff. Backed by successful Seed and Series A rounds-with a fresh raise on the horizon-we're entering a phase of serious scale.
As Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in Engrain's growing finance team. You will partner directly with the Accounting Manager to support full-cycle accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of our financial data while helping us scale.
While you will maintain ownership of accounts payable, this role goes beyond data entry. You will contribute to month-end close, assist with financial reporting, and help streamline processes to support a fast-paced SaaS environment. This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-oriented professional eager to expand their skills in General Ledger (GL) accounting, GAAP compliance, and financial analysis.
What you'll do...
  • Month-end close & GL management: execute key month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations (Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Accruals), and variance analysis.
  • Procurement & accounts payable oversight: Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process ensuring accurate coding, approval workflows, timely weekly payments/reimbursements in NetSuite and vendor management.
  • Process improvement: Reduce manual Excel-based tasks and implement automation within our financial systems to drive efficiency.
  • Audit & compliance: Be the point of contact for annual financial audits and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP.
  • Cross-functional support: Collaborate with other departments to resolve vendor inquiries and assist the FP&A team with expense tracking and reporting as needed.
  • System maintenance: Maintain data integrity across financial platforms, utilizing NetSuite and Excel to manage large datasets

Requirements
What you offer us...
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Experience: 4-6 years of relevant accounting experience. Experience within SaaS, technology, or high-growth environments is highly preferred.
  • CPA preferred
  • Technical skills:
    • High proficiency in Excel (vlookups, pivot tables) is a must.
    • Experience with NetSuite is strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity with Salesforce or expense management platforms (e.g., Airbase) is a plus.
  • Core competencies:
    • Technical GAAP research and implementation, specifically regarding revenue recognition (ASC 606)
    • Ability to manage and reconcile large datasets with high attention to detail.
    • A proactive problem-solver who can communicate financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
    • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.

What we offer you...
  • Salary Disclosure for Colorado: The anticipated base salary amount for this position is $85,000 - $95,000, with final compensation dependent on a variety of factors like experience, certifications and skill set.
  • Various health, dental and vision insurance plans to choose from
  • 2-10 weeks of paid parental leave + additional paid and unpaid leave options
  • Up to 18 days annually of PTO & 10 holidays per year
  • Dog-friendly office
  • 401k match up to 4 percent
  • Annual stipend for personal growth through our Grow475 program
  • On-site amenities include a professional fitness center, flexible & modern workspace, coffee bar, happy hour taps & team member lounge
