Domain Director, Quality Engineering – Commercial Lending
Role Summary
The Group Manager/Director, Quality Engineering for Commercial Lending is accountable for quality across platforms supporting origination, underwriting, servicing, and lifecycle processing. The role helps teams ship predictably by building prevention‑focused practices into delivery, strengthening test strategy and controls, and improving signal from automation and execution data.
Reporting Line & Scope
• Reports to: Head of C&IB Quality Engineering
• Leads: QE Managers / Senior Managers, QE Leads, Architects, ICs (employees and contractors)
• Scope: Commercial lending platforms and workflows; onshore/offshore delivery; vendor engagement
• Key partners: Engineering Leaders, Product Leadership, Architecture, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Data, Risk & Control
Domain Context
• Commercial Lending platforms contain complex rules, approvals, and calculations where accuracy, traceability, and consistency are critical. Quality must balance delivery speed with strong execution discipline and risk awareness.
Key Accountabilities:
• Own quality outcomes across end‑to‑end lending workflows
• Align test strategy to change complexity, data sensitivity, and business criticality
• Establish delivery governance and evidence practices aligned to risk expectations
• Drive intelligent automation and pattern‑based defect prevention
• Lead staffing, capacity planning, and vendor accountability
• Responsibilities
• Define domain test strategy and readiness practices
• Improve upstream quality through early engagement and testability improvements
• Partner with enablement teams to mitigate environment and test data constraints
• Lead root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring issues
• Provide leadership reporting on quality posture and delivery risk

• Reduced rework and late‑cycle defect discovery
• Improved release predictability and confidence
• Improved automation effectiveness and reliability
• Strong control alignment and visibility into delivery risk
Qualifications
• 15+ years QE/Engineering experience; 8–10+ years leading managers
• Experience with complex workflows, integrations, and data‑heavy systems

- Leads the strategic implementation of all QA activities and processes for major or multiple software products or systems.
- Ensures that the performance and quality products are in line with best practice. Evaluates emerging trends for potential implementation.
- Champions quality and drives increased efficiency and effectiveness related to how we delivery testing. Partners with peers to ensure that the software development standards and practices related to quality are ingrained in any and all software design and development.
- Partner internally with testing teams and with partners to solve problems and improve processes. Escalates concerns and potential solutions to senior management as appropriate.
- Interpret testing results with both a business and technical lens to make a final implementation recommendation. Reports to senior management on the results of software testing prior to implementation.
