Lead and optimize QA teams for high-complexity game projects, ensuring quality standards are met and collaborating cross-functionally.
Reports To: Senior Program Manager
About the Role
We’re looking for a seasoned Project Manager with deep QA expertise to lead and optimize our QA team for a large-scale, high-complexity game project. This role is critical to ensuring the QA teams are aligned, efficient, and delivering high-quality results that meet the evolving needs of AAA development.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day oversight of the QA team, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with internal QA leads and managers to define and evolve milestone entrance/exit criteria, test acceptance criteria, and coverage expectations.
- Establish and track high-level KPIs to evaluate vendor execution, efficiency, and quality.
- Partner with stakeholders to design the right staffing and operating model for each phase of the project.
- Provide independent analysis of vendor performance, test coverage, and risk areas — not just status updates.
- Translate budget constraints into actionable QA coverage plans (“here’s what we can do at each budget level”).
- Recommend and implement test strategy solutions across functional, regression, compatibility, and exploratory testing.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, development, and QA to ensure vendor teams are proactive, not reactive.
- Contribute to retrospectives and process improvements across internal and external QA workflows.
- 5+ years of QA project management experience, including direct oversight of external vendors.
- Proven track record shipping at least one large-scale AAA title.
- Deep understanding of test execution metrics, QA methodologies, and how to scale teams to meet quality goals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — able to assess execution gaps and propose actionable solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work with diverse teams across time zones.
- PMP, Agile Scrum, or similar certifications are a plus.
- Experience managing QA across multiple regions (e.g., North America, Europe, Southeast Asia).
- Familiarity with Jira, TestRail, and other QA tools.
- Passion for games and a strong understanding of the player experience.
