Your role and impact

As a Python Software Engineer within BIS, you will contribute to the development of the next-generation equity, fixed income, and multi-asset index calculation, simulation, and delivery platform. • Collaborate across a globally distributed team and with Product Management, Equity and Fixed Income Research, Platform Engineering, Data Operations, Production, and Program Management to deliver innovative indices.

Your experience
  • Python development experience with numerical, statistical, or machine-learning libraries such as pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and CVXPY.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases, data integration and extract, transform, load (ETL) solutions, and object-relational mapping approaches.
  • Experience developing application programming interfaces (APIs) and distributed, cloud-native applications using web services, scalable computing, container orchestration, and event-streaming or messaging technologies.
  • Strong software-engineering foundations, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design patterns, and Unix/Linux environments; modern JavaScript framework experience is desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills, with experience working in agile software-development environments and modern development, testing, and deployment practices.
  • Knowledge of equity, fixed income, and real estate investment, trading, or index ecosystems is desirable; experience with the BlackRock Aladdin platform or integrations with financial-market data, index, trading, clearing, or messaging providers is a plus.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent, in a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) discipline, with demonstrated enterprise software development experience and strong Python skills, including multithreading and networking frameworks.
