The Job/What You’ll Do:

As a Product Manager on the Billing Data team, you will play a key role in developing and delivering scalable, high-quality solutions that support AssetMark's advisory billing platform. Working cross-functionally with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Compliance, you will lead product strategy and execution. Acting as the Product Owner, you will define and prioritize features while driving automation, operational efficiency, and platform modernization.

Successful candidates should be highly analytical, comfortable writing SQL, have history understanding data flows between systems, documenting data mappings, improving processes, and working independently to solve complex business problems.

We can only consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.

Responsibilities:

  • Own multiple features or a complex feature group (e.g., Portfolio Analytics or Model Library)
  • Define and design new features
  • Drive execution with engineering

  • Specifies the platform components required to power new features, including where existing vs new platform capabilities are required
  • Decomposes RFCs into actionable user stories, some of which may land outside their own team
  • Tracks team capacity and proactively manages priorities 1-2 sprints in advance
  • Follows our SDLC and finds ways to optimize their team to its use.
  • Able to run at least two feature-sized projects in parallel
  • Provides their engineers business context about their projects and serves as the first line of defense against distractions for their engineers
  • Uses data and analytics tools to inform decisions

Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement:

  • May own an internal stakeholder relationship
  • Builds credibility with internal stakeholders by helping them solve for their full outcomes, rather than limiting engagement to the “product part” of an issue
  • Can demo all features in their Pillar internally and, with advance notice, externally
  • Develops a working knowledge of players and developments in our space relevant to their product area
  • Manages stakeholder expectations by providing regular updates and ensuring alignment on timelines.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Lead feature planning and prioritization meetings
  • Articulates product requirements and decisions clearly to cross-functional teams
  • Capable of resolving minor team conflicts and maintaining positive momentum.
  • Assess junior product candidates in interviews

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Understanding of the end-to-end product development process from ideation to launch and iteration.
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and working with cross-functional Agile teams.
  • Uses SQL to analyze production data, to triage errors, and validate requirements.
  • Understands data flows across systems, and maintains data mapping
  • Knowledge of how to conduct competitive analysis, user interviews, and usability testing.
  • Foundational understanding of systems architecture, APIs, databases, and software development processes (especially important for technical product managers).
  • Ability to define product vision, strategy, and create roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data (e.g., using SQL, Excel, or dashboards) to inform product decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with executives, customers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills for identifying problems and creating scalable solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, design, operations, marketing, and other stakeholders.
  • Capable of converting stakeholder input into clear, actionable product requirements.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments and adjusting plans based on new information.
  • Committed to delivering products that improve efficiency for customers and enhance user experience.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead product initiatives and manage cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree: Often in fields such as Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in product management or related roles
