About the role

At Thatch, we’re on a mission to build a healthcare system people love. We’re taking a unique approach in a legacy space, with backing from some of the world’s top investors (a16z, Google Ventures, General Catalyst) and a team of early employees from companies like Stripe, Rippling, Ramp, Brex, and Shopify.

As the Product Manager for Foundations, you will own the core systems and infrastructure that make Thatch possible. This includes building our unified ledger, defining the primitives for member and employer balances, automating enrollments with carriers, enabling seamless money movement, and developing the internal tools that power our operations team.

This is a highly technical role where you’ll work closely with engineering, finance, operations, and compliance to design systems that are reliable, extensible, and compliant. Done well, your work will ensure Thatch just works — powering every employer, member, broker, and partner experience on our platform.

What you'll do
  • Own the product vision and roadmap for Thatch’s foundational systems and internal platforms.
  • Translate complex technical and regulatory requirements into clear product specs and iterative releases.
  • Partner with Engineering to design scalable architectures, APIs, and data models that serve all product surfaces.
  • Build internal tools that increase operational accuracy, speed, and compliance while reducing manual work.
  • Define success metrics for reliability, automation coverage, latency, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and Compliance to ensure auditability, controls, and risk management are first class.
  • Communicate strategy, decisions, and progress with crisp writing and clear stakeholder updates.
Background we're looking for
  • 5+ years of product management experience with a focus on technical or platform products.
  • Experience in payments, fintech infrastructure, accounting systems, or external integrations.
  • Strong systems thinking and data modeling skills. Comfortable working through edge cases, failure modes, and controls.
  • Proven ability to work with engineers on APIs, schemas, and architecture tradeoffs.
  • Track record of shipping infrastructure that powers high-quality end user experiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. You simplify complexity and align diverse stakeholders.
  • Bias toward outcomes, reliability, and scale.
Experience we’d be particularly excited about
  • Experience in regulated industries like healthcare or fintech, where clarity, trust, and precision matter.
  • A background building platforms or ecosystems (e.g. APIs, marketplaces, integrations).
  • Strong design sensibilities and belief that small details create trust.
What to expect

We interview rigorously based on integrity, talent, and drive; the trust we display in our teammates from day 1 is a reflection of the confidence we have in this process. We aim to evaluate the things you’ll be doing every day as best we can, and we move quickly. Here's what to expect:

  • 30 minute phone screen to talk through your background and interest in Thatch
  • 30 minute Zoom meeting with the team to dive deeper into your experience and the role
  • Take home case study assignment
  • 30 minute Zoom meeting to meet 3 members of the team
  • 30 minute Zoom meeting with our founders to discuss your approach to culture and our operating principles
