This role is located in the Pacific Time Zone (PT). You must be willing and able to work out of this time zone to qualify.
This position is not eligible for F1 and J1 students. It is not available for any work sponsorship.
Our paid internship program runs for 12 weeks between May/June 2027 - August/September 2027.

As a Product Design Intern, you'll work on real design challenges that solve for the beautiful mess of modern work and gain firsthand insight into how we are transforming the way work gets done in an AI-first company. Atlassian Design turns complex teamwork into clear, connected, and inclusive experiences. You'll work alongside designers, product managers, and engineers across our global organization, learning how to understand real customer problems, explore and test ideas, communicate decisions, and turn them into high-quality technical prototypes with our world-class AI tooling.

Responsibilities
  • Apply strong interaction, visual, and systems-design craft to turn ambiguous customer problems into simple, accessible product experiences across Atlassian products.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, researchers, and senior designers to understand customer needs, evaluate technical constraints, and make informed design decisions.
  • Use research insights, product data, technical prototyping and usability testing to explore assumptions, iterate quickly and improve the quality of shipped experiences.
  • Contribute to design systems, patterns and documentation while learning how AI and connected teamwork shape modern collaboration at scale.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Able to commit to a 12 week full-time (40hrs/week) program during Summer 2027
  • Currently enrolled full-time in a 4-year bachelors or 2-year masters degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship, graduating by June 2028
  • Please note: At this time, this role is only open to entry-level candidates with less than a year of professional experience (this does not include internships/co-ops)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with user-focused design
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan while juggling multiple simultaneous projects
  • Experience collaborating with team members, like engineers and product managers, and other designers

In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $50/hr - $56/hr
Zone B: $45/hr - $50/hr
Zone C: $41/hr - $46/hr
