Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal OR Sr Principal Project Management to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals with our Test and Evaluation Organization. This role is located in Edwards AFB, CA.

This position will be supporting one or more aircraft platforms within our Strike portfolio, including the B-21 Raider, the world’s first sixth-generation aircraft. When it comes to delivering America’s resolve, the Raider provides the Air Force with long range, high survivability, and mission payload flexibility. In this role, you will be part of a diverse organization of project management within our Test and Evaluation Organization. The candidate is responsible to oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects. This position will require the project management to perform advanced project management tasks from inception to close-out and continue to manage the system for operational efficiency. 


The candidate should have knowledge of EVMS and Program Management processes and procedures. They should have knowledge of industry practices and standards and demonstrate the skill and ability to perform professional tasks independently. This individual should possess leadership and team building capabilities and have experience briefing Leadership. Must possess solid organization abilities and be a motivated, flexible team player. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.

  • Reviews status of projects and budgets

  • Manages schedules and prepares status reports.

  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

  • Willing and able to work at Edwards AFB.

Basic Qualifications (Principal):

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree AND 6 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in project management, OR a Master’s degree AND 4 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in project management.

  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Must have EVMS /CAM/ Cost and Schedule / Project Management Experience.

  • Must be skilled in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables), PowerPoint, and Project (scheduling).

Basic Qualifications (Sr. Principal):

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree AND 10 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in project management, OR a Master’s degree AND 8 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in project management.

  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Must have EVMS /CAM/ Cost and Schedule / Project Management Experience.

  • Must be skilled in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables), PowerPoint, and Project (scheduling).

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Current PAR/ SAP Access

  • Experience managing technical projects preferably aerospace related.

  • Experience managing facilities and infrastructure projects. 

  • Master's Degree

  • Able to prepare and analyze data and figures.

  • Able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously.

  • Ability to apply and/or develop technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts.

  • Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret numerical data for reporting purposes.

  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.

  • Able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours.

  • Ability to change physical locations based upon need (including physical ability to travel).

  • Able to work in both external and internal environmental conditions.

Salary Range: $88,700.00 - $133,100.00Salary Range 2: $109,900.00 - $164,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
