As a Principal Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for designing and evolving the technology landscape specifically for the HR, Legal and compliance function. This role partners with IT leaders and stakeholders to align future-state enterprise architectures with strategic goals and industry best practices, ensuring scalable, secure, and compliant technology solutions that support HR and Legal operations effectively. Serve as a subject matter expert in enterprise architecture with a focus on automation technologies, providing insights into cross-functional teams and senior leadership. Responsibility also includes working closely with service owner teams for application development, support, and optimization. You will own and lead the technical capability evaluation of SaaS applications in the market that could potentially meet business requirements, create QFD to rate, recommend preferred business applications and develop architecture to onboard it, and integrate it with other Honeywell on-premises/ cloud-hosted/ SaaS applications as applicable.

You will report directly to our Director, IT and you’ll work out of our Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC or Atlanta, GA or Houston, TX location on a Hybrid work schedule.

Hybrid Work Schedule Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Enterprise Architecture Delivery

  • Define and maintain enterprise-wide target architectures, principles, standards, and reference models across business and functions translating business strategy into actionable architectural roadmaps. 
  • Influence investment decisions, vendor selections, and long-term technology strategy. 
  • Work with the functions and Strategic Business Groups (SDGs) to determine GDM process standards, KPIs, and data elements.
  • Ensure IT systems and applications meet the requirements of the businesses and their processes.
  • Partner with project delivery teams to ensure adherence to common processes and the definition of new processes.
  • Works with Business Partners to provide inputs to Strategic Plan (STRAP) and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) in support of strategies and objectives.
  • Partner with IT functional, business, and infrastructure leaders to establish lifecycle governance of technology in conjunction with application roadmaps.

Platform / Solution delivery

  • Understand the requirements/problems from business functions like HR, Finance, Legal and build architecture roadmap that meet business requirements.
  • Define enterprise architecture for HR and Workforce platforms, including: HCM, talent, learning, performance management, payroll, T&A and employee experience.
  • Ensure end-to-end employee lifecycle integration (hire-to-retire) across HR, Identity & Access Management (IAM), Finance, and IT Service systems. 
  • Partner with HR leadership to align operating models, organizational design, and workforce strategies with enabling technologies. 
  • Architect and govern solutions supporting Legal and Compliance capabilities, including: CLM, Litigation, IP, Matter management, e-Discovery, record retention.
  • Translate regulatory, legal, and risk requirements into architectural standards and solution designs. 
  • Define and lead the enterprise automation strategy, covering: BPA, RPA, workflow and orchestration platforms, Low-co/no-co platforms, AI and GenAI-enabled automation.
  • Identify and prioritize high-value automation opportunities across the enterprise.
  • Document architectures for platform and development teams in conjunction with Solution Architects
  • Ensure alignment and support of all critical systems relative to security and data privacy policies and standards inclusive of accessibility and vulnerability.

Governance & Service Optimization

  • Collaborate with service team to Establish governance for employee master data, workforce analytics, data privacy, residency and regulatory compliance (e.g. GDPR, local labor law)
  • Partner with Automation COEs and platform teams to manage automation lifecycle, risk, and value realization. 
  • Drive technology rationalization, simplification, and technical debt reduction across the enterprise portfolio. 
  • Serve as a liaison to the solution operations team(s) to document and facilitate the successful implementation of the solution
  • Advise and create methods to improve technical solution processes.

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 10+ years of experience in solutions architecture/solution design and delivery.
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise architecture with a focus on HR & legal technology solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience in enterprise architecture with demonstrated expertise in automation technologies and integration solutions.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and engaging stakeholders at all levels.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar discipline
  • Relevant industry certifications such as TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture credentials.
  • Experience in integration technologies like Informatica or similar products
  • Proficiency in Enterprise Architecture framework, principles, and tools
  • Proven people skills, working successfully in a team context with co-workers, clients, and managers across multiple functions and geographies
  • Exceptional consultative, project management, problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate across borders.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with internal technical teams and external business teams.
  • Knowledge of research advances in information technology
  • Experience or certification in SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) or similar methodologies
  • Ability to set priorities and remain flexible in a changing environment.
  • Ability to build relationships with and gain the trust of customers by always meeting commitments.
  • Acting with a sense of urgency; a bias for action and speed
  • Ability to make the complex simple and speak/write clearly and succinctly.
  • Ability to use judgment and logic to understand a problem or situation and assess carefully before acting
