How You'll Make an Impact
- Design, implement, monitor, enhance and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas
- Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary
- Test and review system designs
- Provide engineering technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation are met
- Mentor and guide the work of technical staff
- Review work plans and design and advise on improvements
- Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable
- Know, understand and follow company policy

What You'll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
- Master's or bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
Experience
- 5+ years engineering work experience
- 5+ years project management work experience
Skills
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
- Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
- Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
- Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
- Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances
- Basic knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
- Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- Juniper JNCIP-SP or JNCIE
- Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
Skills
- Expert knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet, and Transport technologies and protocols
- Expert knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology
- Expert knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
- Expert knowledge of network devices and network appliances
- Basic knowledge of network design software, such as Visio
- High-level understanding of DevOps principles, including automation, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous improvement
- Advanced knowledge of scripting and automation tools used to support network provisioning, configuration, and operational efficiency
- Understanding of version control practices and change management processes in support of infrastructure and network environments
- Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and performance management concepts for network and system reliability
- Basic understanding of cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments and how network services integrate with them
- Ability to collaborate across network engineering, operations, development, and security teams to support scalable and reliable service delivery
