We are seeking a Principal Associate, Supplier Management to join our Enterprise Supplier Management (ESM) Team. In ESM, we empower associates to deliver their best by cultivating a culture of inclusion and belonging, where varying perspectives and opinions are valued.
As a Supplier Manager in the Third Party Management Center of Excellence (TPM CoE), you will lead several, cross-functional initiatives to enable a well-managed and adaptable supply chain. You will work closely with teams across the enterprise and maintain relationships with internal business customers. This role will be responsible for supporting the Third Party Manager community by creating tools which enable the success of the Third Party Manager roles, and sharing best practices and stepping in to resolve recurring problems that are raised by the TPM Community. As a representative from the TPM CoE, you will help prioritize areas that need improvement and also present regularly to the ESM leadership on any areas where you need additional executive level support. You will work with several stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and with a high level of quality.
In this role, you will have a direct responsibility for strategically shaping the future of how ESM manages third parties. This includes identifying opportunities to improve our Third Party Ongoing Monitoring and Terminations procedures as well as the controls we use to mitigate third party risk.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Process Management: Support the CoE with documenting current state processes, identifying gaps, and proposing future state solutions
  • Strategic Thinking: Leverage critical thinking skills to ideate future state solutions and best practices for third party management. Lead workshops to create and design innovative solutions
  • Connecting Dots : Working with various stakeholder and partner organizations to troubleshoot issues and challenges as they emerge, identifying solutions, and driving remediation activities to completion
  • Leadership: Teach, facilitate and coach Third Party Managers to deliver strong outcomes and manage their supplier portfolios with a risk focused approach
  • Driving Intent: Represent the TPM community in several cross-functional forums to define new intent coming into ESM and provide feedback on the level of impact to the TPMs
  • Communications: Deliver strong communications plan for the TPM community and share upcoming training opportunities
  • Influence: Exercise influence across multiple domains to drive process improvements and adoption via presentation and storytelling skills


Note: Limited travel may be required
Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in Relationship Management, Supplier Management, Project Management, Process Management, or a combination


Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of experience in Procurement, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Risk Management at a federally regulated financial services company

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Plano, TX: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Assoc., Supply Chain
McLean, VA: $117,300 - $133,900 for Principal Assoc., Supply Chain
Richmond, VA: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Assoc., Supply Chain
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
