The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist is accountable for the implementation and verification of the Magna International Global Occupation Health and Safety Compliance Programs in Canada. This includes conducting audits and inspections, training and providing support to all facilities to assist them with compliance for regulations and internal Health and Safety policies, as well as with communications with regulators, and to identify opportunities and assist facilities in continuous improvement of Health and Safety related practices.

The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist is accountable for the implementation and verification of the Magna International Global Occupation Health and Safety Compliance Programs in Canada. This includes conducting audits and inspections, training and providing support to all facilities to assist them with compliance for regulations and internal Health and Safety policies, as well as with communications with regulators, and to identify opportunities and assist facilities in continuous improvement of Health and Safety related practices.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct Health and Safety audits and inspections focusing on recommendations related to compliance issues.
- Develop Action plans from all findings of Health and Safety audits and inspections and post the information in HSELinx. Follow-up of action plan items and requested corrective actions at least quarterly.
- Provide training to employees, supervisors, and managers regarding Health and Safety.
- Develop training material for delivery to Magna divisions.
- Track accident information data from facilitates for reporting, in HSELinx and Power BI
- Provide Division support as needed.
- Maintain organized files as required in both electronic and hard copy format related to reports, communication, and confidential memos on Health and Safety facility related issues.
- Prepare quarterly reports, using the HSELinx CRRR application, based on current action item status in a timely manner with notes on key issues.
- Collaborate with the global Health and Safety teams with regards to new internal standards and new systems to be implemented.
- Provide periodic reviews of Health and Safety legislation affecting Magna facilities and maintain the Internal Magna Health and Safety Checklist.
Who we are looking for
- Effective and efficient written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and individually.
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands and deadlines simultaneously.
- Familiarity with ISO 45000 management system.
- Excellent organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills and technologically proficient (strong Excel Skills, HSELinx, Power BI , other Microsoft Suite, etc.).
Your preferred qualifications
- Post-secondary education or related degree in Occupational Health & Safety.
- 5+ years progressive experience in Health and Safety activity in an industrial setting or consulting to industry.
