As a Network Engineer in the Network Operations team, you'll assist in the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for network systems of varying complexity. You'll learn the ins and outs of our core technology such as Video, TV, and Voice and understand multiple platforms as you troubleshoot issues across the network. WHAT OUR NETWORK ENGINEERS ENJOY MOST

  • Integrating communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.
  • Evaluating new products and performing network problem resolution.
  • Assisting in the development and documentation of technical standards and implementing approved methods of procedure.
  • Contributing in designing corporate standards and developing network enhancements.
  • Working on projects / systems / issues of varying complexity surrounding network planning, configuration, and optimization.
  • Having hands on involvement in network planning, network architecture design and engineering.


Days are fast-paced, and a learning mindset is essential in Network Operations. As you troubleshoot network issues alongside a collaborative team of engineers, you'll get to know all the various platforms Spectrum is responsible for. Our engineers leverage some of the latest technology such as optical, routers, and switches to overcome technical challenges. WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Three (3) year of Network Engineering experience, and of Cisco and/or Juniper experience and Data network experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and / or equivalent work experience.
  • Technical skills: Intermediate knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Physical Media (Multimode Fiber, Singlemode Fiber, UTP, etc.), bridging, switching, routing, ethernet and transport technologies and protocols.
  • Skills: Experience with Network Design, Network Architecture, Protocols and Network Topology.
  • Abilities: Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly. And use ticketing and software tools to support current operations.
  • Travel Ability: This position is eligible to work in a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote days).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Optical Transport Network designs including fiber span loss analysis.
  • Understanding of OTDR and fiber characterization results in application to optical transport design.
  • Understanding of DWDM and CWDM.
  • Experience with project engineering, including budgeting and project spending control, ordering equipment, and design package preparation.
  • Familiarity with Cisco NCS2K/M, Nokie 1830 PSS, and Ciena 6500.
  • Experience with One Control, Ciena MCP, CTC or EPNM, and Nokia NFM-T.
  • Experience with Granite Network Inventory Database.
