Vanguard is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join our Multi-Cloud Platform Engineering team within Global Technology Operations. In this role, you will help design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and resilient Google Cloud Platform (GCP) capabilities that enable enterprise adoption of cloud technologies.

Working closely with infrastructure, security, architecture, and application teams, you will develop and support foundational cloud services, automation capabilities, security controls, and platform standards that empower teams across Vanguard to build and operate solutions in the cloud safely and efficiently.

While Vanguard operates within a multi-cloud environment, this role is primarily focused on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and support enterprise-scale GCP platform services and infrastructure.

  • Build and enhance cloud foundations, including landing zones, project structures, networking, security controls, and governance capabilities.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD automation pipelines using GitHub and related DevOps tooling.

  • Deploy and support cloud-native services including networking, storage, load balancing, serverless technologies, container platforms, backup, and recovery solutions.

  • Implement cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, policy enforcement, and platform governance controls.

  • Monitor platform health through observability, logging, alerting, and performance management solutions.

  • Partner with engineering and security teams to develop scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions.

  • Optimize platform performance, availability, and cloud spend through operational excellence and FinOps practices.

  • Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure and platform issues across production and non-production environments.

  • Develop technical standards, documentation, and operational procedures.

  • Mentor engineers and contribute to the growth of cloud engineering capabilities across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience.

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting solutions within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Experience building and managing cloud networking solutions, including VPCs, connectivity, load balancing, and security controls.

  • Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.

  • Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using GitHub or similar DevOps tools.

  • Knowledge of cloud monitoring, logging, observability, and operational support practices.

  • Experience implementing cloud security and identity management solutions.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
