GM Motorsports Test Operations is expanding its technical team and is seeking a Motorsports Test and Development Engineer. The ideal candidate will leverage their motorsports knowledge to optimize performance across key mechanical and electrical race vehicle systems.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with internal GM engineering teams and external race team partners.
- Support testing and development of high-performance vehicle systems: Steering, Braking, Transaxles, Uprights, Dampers.
- Contribute to the design, implementation, operation, and troubleshooting of specialized GM test fixtures and devices.
- Work at the intersection of cutting-edge motorsports technology and advanced vehicle development.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Controls Engineering, with a minimum of 1 year of motorsports-related experience (e.g., SAE projects, internships, etc.).
Note: Candidates with 2+ years of professional motorsports experience (e.g., NASCAR, IndyCar, Sports Car) may be considered in lieu of a degree. - Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities, ensuring clear and effective interactions across all levels.
- Reporting and Presentation: Proficient in generating detailed reports and delivering engaging presentations with accuracy and clarity.
- Team Collaboration: Proven team player with the ability to work effectively across diverse departments and disciplines.
- Analytical and Client-Focused: Structured thinker with a client-oriented mindset, strong relationship-building skills, and excellent communication.
- Adaptability and Work Ethic: Highly adaptable in fast-paced, dynamic environments. Brings a strong work ethic, integrity, and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Leadership Communication: Provides actionable recommendations based on analysis and ensures leadership is consistently informed.
- Travel: Ability to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering within a motorsports environment.
- Skilled in using track data analysis tools such as PiToolbox, MoTeC, and Atlas.
- Thorough understanding of race vehicle preparation and vehicle dynamics, with hands-on experience in optimizing performance.
- Proficient in powertrain systems and data acquisition, including setup, calibration, and analysis.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and solid foundation in engineering principles, enabling effective problem-solving and innovation.
- Experience with engineering tools and programming languages, including DaisyLab, MATLAB, and Python.
