Digital Product Design (DPD) at Ford is committed to envisioning and creating simple, thoughtful, enjoyable, and compelling product experiences that our customers need and love. We work in close partnership with product and engineering to deliver best-in-class interactions experiences that meet the needs of people today, and in the future. Our team is comprised of a dynamic group of product designers, researchers, visual designers, industrial designers, modelers, and project managers.
In this position...
The Ford mobile app is an essential companion for our customers. It connects with their daily lives, journeys, and adventures by putting important vehicle status, command, and control features at their fingertips. The app should build confidence at every step and help Ford customers explore, accomplish tasks, and enjoy their ownership experience.
We’re seeking a Senior Mobile Product Designer to lead design for mobile app features from concept through delivery. This hands-on individual-contributor role also includes project-level leadership: aligning cross-functional partners, guiding design decisions, and supporting peers through feedback and knowledge sharing. It does not include formal people management.
A successful candidate will bring strong UX and visual design skills, sound judgment, and the ability to move work forward across disciplines and see it through to delivery. You will lead defined areas of design, help teams align around customer needs and product goals, and contribute to a consistent, high-quality experience across the app.
This role is located in Dearborn, MI on a Hybrid work model reporting to the office 4 days per week.
What you'll do...
- Lead design end to end. Own feature areas and workstreams from research-informed concepts, flows, and prototypes through polished, production-ready interfaces.
- Drive next-generation experiences. Work with Product Management, Engineering, and Research to set design direction, priorities, and delivery plans centered on customer needs.
- Take on technically complex problems. Design experiences for real-time video, vehicle commands, energy and charging management, and home power integration.
- Apply systems thinking. Find gaps and dependencies across the customer experience, technical implementation, and business objectives, and put forward practical solutions.
- Design with evidence. Use customer insights, research, analytics, and product data to shape decisions, explain your rationale, and measure results.
- Lead the design conversation. Facilitate reviews and discussions, and raise open questions, dependencies, and risks early.
- Strengthen the whole. Apply and contribute to Ford's design system and brand standards so the app stays cohesive and high quality as it grows.
- Raise the bar for the team. Give thoughtful critique, mentor peers, and share knowledge.
Qualifications
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience.
- 5+ years of UX/UI or digital product design experience, including designing and shipping consumer mobile products.
- Advanced Figma skills and a strong portfolio of mobile product design work.
- A portfolio that shows both visual excellence and depth on complex, technical product challenges.
- Experience using research, data, and analytics to guide and validate design decisions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage a defined project or feature area.
- A record of leading projects or workstreams across disciplines and influencing partners without formal authority.
- Experience supporting peers through design critique or mentorship.
Even better, you may have...
- Experience with connected devices, IoT, smart home, energy, or EV products.
- Automotive UI/HMI experience.
- Familiarity with Agile methods, design systems, and human-centered design.
- Experience with AI-enabled workflows, motion design, prototyping, or coding a plus.
Why Ford and DPD?

- Real scope. Drive key features in the mobile experience that connects security, energy, mobility, and the home.
- An exceptional team. Work alongside product designers, researchers, visual and industrial designers, engineers, and design operations specialists who care deeply about craft.
