Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Analytics Consultant in our Merchant Services group as part of Data Infrastructure, Analytics & Reporting. In this role, you will serve as the Senior Data Architect & Analytics Lead, responsible for legacy system stewardship, SSRS cube-based reporting, and cloud modernization.
What You'll Do:
Legacy Environment Support & Deep Analysis
- Perform in-depth analysis of legacy systems, including 15+ year-old code and undocumented processes, to identify issues and engineer durable solutions.
- Maintain and enhance SSIS packages for ETL workflows, including automation and performance tuning.
- Manage SQL Server-based data marts and SSRS reports connected to SSAS multidimensional cubes.
- Use MDX queries in SSRS to extract data from SSAS cubes, enabling fast, multidimensional analysis across business dimensions and measures.
- Design and optimize SSRS cube-based reports that support slicing and dicing of data across time, geography, product, and other dimensions.
- Develop and optimize stored procedures for data retrieval and workflow automation.
- Ensure data quality, lineage, security, and compliance across all legacy systems.
- Document findings and create knowledge artifacts to reduce future technical debt and improve supportability.
- Collaborate with reporting and analytics teams to define and implement the Google Cloud migration strategy.
- Design scalable, future-ready data architecture leveraging BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and ThoughtSpot.
- Build data pipelines using Dataflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines for data integration and deployment in GCP.
- Implement governance, security, and cost optimization standards for cloud-based data solutions.
- Advise leadership on analytical strategies, KPI frameworks, and advanced data visualization for complex business and technical needs.
- Partner in the creation of a data environment that supports reporting needs and enables decision-making across Finance, Accounting, Customer Marketing, Operations, and Risk.
- Translate business requirements into robust data models, semantic layers, and dashboards.
- Create and maintain Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports for business segment management; deliver proactive insights and ad-hoc analyses.
- Lead process improvement strategies that simplify and automate financial reporting and analytics.
- Design and lead complex, cross-functional projects with long-term, enterprise-scale impact.
- Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on innovative data solutions aligned to enterprise standards.
- Engage with peers, senior leaders, risk, compliance, and finance as a trusted advisor.
- Mentor team members; foster a culture of innovation, documentation, and continuous improvement.
- Lead new projects and ongoing maintenance of the Merchant Services MIS infrastructure.
- 7+ years of Analytics & Reporting, Financial Modeling, Statistics, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Expert-level experience with SSIS, SSRS (including SSAS cube integration), SQL Server, and stored procedures.
- Strong ETL design, dimensional modeling, and data warehousing fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
- Familiarity with Power BI and semantic modeling.
- Proven ability to investigate undocumented systems and resolve complex issues independently.
- Strong analytical mindset with persistence to solve challenging problems.
Desired Qualifications:
- Finance and financial services industry experience; strong understanding of Merchant Services P&L and profitability drivers.
- Experience supporting the development of financial and analytical reporting systems and MIS infrastructure enhancements.
- Experience coordinating delivery across data warehousing and reporting infrastructure.
- Project management experience leading multi-team data initiatives.
- Knowledge of SQL or SAS, and MDX for SSRS cube reporting.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub).
- Knowledge of DevOps/CI-CD practices for data (testing, versioning, deployment, observability).
- Exposure to Databricks, Spark, BigQuery, MongoDB, and or Postgres.
- GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Data Engineer) are a plus.
- Experience migrating legacy ETL and reporting solutions to GCP.
- Own complex problem-solving in a challenging legacy environment and make a lasting impact.
- Drive transformation from legacy platforms to a modern, governed cloud architecture.
- Work on mission-critical systems while shaping the future data strategy and enabling advanced analytics.
