Salas O'Brien is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented BIM Specialist to join our team with a primary focus on supporting Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design teams. This role will provide dedicated BIM expertise to engineers and technical design staff across multiple project types, including commercial office, mission critical/data centers, telecommunications, and industrial facilities.

The BIM Specialist will support project setup, model development at LOD 200, 300, and 350 and model health, coordination, documentation, MEP content and family management. The role will help engineering teams work effectively in Revit and will also support broader BIM and Digital Delivery initiatives through the development and maintenance of BIM content, standards, and workflows.

This position reports to the BIM Manager and works as an integrated member of multidisciplinary project teams, primarily dedicated to MEP efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, develop, and maintain Revit MEP models and associated project documentation throughout project phases.
  • Support Mechanical and Electrical engineers and production staff with Revit workflows, model setup, documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Establish and maintain model standards including links, coordinates, worksharing, views, sheets, and model health.
  • Develop, maintain, and organize MEP families, content, templates, shared parameters, and related BIM standards.
  • Coordinate MEP models with Architectural, Structural, and other disciplines, including model review and clash detection.
  • Perform BIM quality control to support model accuracy, consistency, and project deliverable requirements.
  • Support AutoCAD-to-Revit and Revit-to-AutoCAD workflows when required by project or client deliverables.
  • Participate in BIM and Digital Delivery process improvement, standards development, and team training initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) building systems, engineering documentation, and BIM workflows.
  • Strong Autodesk Revit MEP skills, including project setup, worksharing, linked models, views/sheets, system modeling, and family/content management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain coordinated MEP BIM models and construction documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Revit model, family, visibility, and coordination issues in support of engineering teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a service-oriented approach to project support.
  • Experience with Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat PDF workflows.
  • Experience working within Autodesk Forma (ACC) and/or BIM 360 environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering teams in a BIM specialist, BIM coordinator, or similar role.
  • Experience with model coordination and clash detection tools and workflows.
  • Experience with Dynamo, pyRevit, or other BIM automation tools.
  • Familiarity with BIM standards, MEP content management, digital delivery processes, and interoperability.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educational Background: Technical diploma or degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, BIM/VDC, Construction, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of MEP drafting/modeling, BIM coordination, or related building systems experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience using Autodesk Revit, preferably Revit MEP, in a professional environment.

The base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
