Lumentum Operations LLC seeks a highly motivated Manufacturing Process Development Engineer to design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for our advanced optical and photonic products. This role focuses on improving efficiency, yield, and quality in a high-volume production environment.
Role and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes, equipment, and methodologies from concept to production.
  • Optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve yield, throughput, cost, and quality, utilizing statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE).
  • Design and execute experiments to characterize process parameters, identify critical factors, and establish robust process windows.
  • Collaborate with R&D, product design, and NPI teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and smooth transitions into production.
  • Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
  • Perform root cause analysis for process deviations, yield loss, and quality issues, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Evaluate and qualify new materials, equipment, and suppliers to support manufacturing process improvements.
  • Provide technical support and training to manufacturing operators and technicians.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.

Job Qualifications and Education: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing process development within a high-tech industry, preferably in optics, photonics, semiconductors, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, process control, and statistical analysis (SPC, DOE).
  • Experience with optical assembly, fiber handling, laser welding, thin-film deposition, or semiconductor fabrication processes is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Python, R) and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $89,650 – $166,000USD. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications
