The Manager, Technical Writing is responsible for overseeing the creation, maintenance, and delivery of high-quality, user-friendly documentation and learning materials across our solutions. This leader mentors our talented team of technical writers and plays a crucial role in ensuring our documentation is clear, accurate, and effectively supports our users. They collaborate across departments, including Product Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success as the voice of the user, supporting product adoption and customer satisfaction. WHAT YOU'LL DO!
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technical writers, including managing workload, project prioritization, resource allocation, and hiring.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive documentation strategy aligned with product roadmaps and user needs.
- Oversee the creation, review, and maintenance of various technical documentation deliverables (e.g., user manuals, API docs, tutorials, release notes).
- Define and enforce documentation standards, style guides, and templates to ensure consistency and quality.
- Manage documentation repositories and content management systems, ensuring organized and accessible content.
- Personally contribute to and edit complex technical content and training materials.
- Track and report on documentation progress, quality metrics, and team performance to stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with product marketing, management, engineering, and customer success teams to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Identify and implement process improvements and evaluate new tools to enhance documentation efficiency and effectiveness.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Strong understanding of technical documentation principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including writing, editing, proofreading, and presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a technical writing team, including setting goals, providing feedback, and supporting professional growth.
- Experience working with various project management, documentation, and design tools and technologies (e.g., Zendesk Guide, HTML/CSS, Jira, Photoshop).
- Ability to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into clear and concise language.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Proven collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.
- Positive and flexible attitude with the ability to adapt well to change.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
