Responsibilities: 

  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures. 
  • Owns complex data science initiatives to support data-driven business decision making. Design and deploy scalable AI/ML solutions that solve real business problems and drive measurable outcomes.  
  • Partners with product, engineering and business stakeholders to translate needs into elegant, data-driven solutions and ensure delivery alignment while holding the bar of quality and impact.  
  • Prepares, reviews, and delivers insight presentations and action recommendations. Communicates complex analytical findings and implications to business leaders. 
  • Supports the continuous evolution and strategy of Vanguard's data science capabilities. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of five years of related work experience in data science or analytical roles. Experience utilizing statistical and machine learning methods required.  
  • Advanced Python programming and experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn). Proficiency in cloud platform (such as AWS) and their AI services and tools. 
  • Proven ability to align AI/ML solutions with business objectives and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.  
  • MS/Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
