Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Armada’s client deductions including product and freight claims, from inception to resolution of deductions while emphasizing the company’s strategic objectives surrounding deductions, including trend and root cause analysis and reduction/elimination of deduction volume.  The ideal candidate will possess keen dispute resolution skills, be adept at regulatory guidance research, and be heavily process and policy driven.  In order to provide comprehensive deductions guidance to execute, support, and grow the business, the candidate must be able to successfully develop and foster relationships both inside and outside of Armada, and be comfortable presenting to and speaking with Armada leadership. 


Top Responsibilities

The successful candidate should be able to:

  • Lead and develop a deductions team, ensuring adequate coverage and accountability.
  • Manage product, freight, overage, shortage, and damage claims from inception through resolution.
  • Responsible for final resolution/disposition of denied claims
  • Perform trend analysis and root cause analysis to reduce future deductions.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and technology initiatives.
  • Partner with Customer Service, AR, AP, Supply Chain, DCs, Vendors, and Account Management to resolve deduction issues.
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership.
  • Manage escalations and disputed claims.
  • Coach, develop, and evaluate employees.
  • Educates organization and external stakeholders on compliance with deductions and claims policies.
  • Responsive, assertive, and courteous but firm in managing relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal cross functional partners.

 

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance or a minimum of 6+ Years AR Managerial experience.
  • 3 years of AR experience, preferably involving deductions, claims, disputes, or collections.
  • 3 years of supervisory or people management experience. 
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, analytics, reporting).
  • Experience creating KPIs and operational reporting.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Process improvement and internal control experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • JD Edwards ERP experience.
  • Experience with product and freight claims.
  • Background in transportation, logistics, distribution, or foodservice industries.
  • Experience presenting trends and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Power BI experience.
