We’re looking for a Live Streaming Software Engineer to join our Live Streaming Pipeline team, where you’ll help design, build, and maintain scalable audio, video, and text processing workflows for live streaming. You’ll play a key role in improving the reliability and efficiency of our live event infrastructure, working across both engineering and operations to deliver high-quality streams at scale.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain media encoding pipelines and live streaming workflows for both cloud and on-premise environments.
Build infrastructure, tools, and real-time monitoring systems to support live video delivery and operational visibility.
Automate quality control and alerting mechanisms to detect and resolve streaming issues rapidly.
Partner closely with the Live Broadcast Operations team to improve operational efficiency and stream reliability.
Provide engineering support during live events to ensure broadcast quality.
Adapt to flexible working hours aligned with live event schedules.
Qualifications
4+ years of professional experience building scalable backend systems.
3+ years of experience with live streaming workflows and infrastructure.
Proficient in Java; experience with Go, Python, JavaScript, or Rust is a plus.
Experience with scripting and automation tools.
Deep knowledge of digital video fundamentals, compression (AVC, HEVC, DD+, Atmos, HDR), distribution formats (MPEG-TS, HLS, DASH), and signaling (SCTE-35, ESNI).
Familiarity with video transport protocols such as RTP, RTMP, SRT, UDP, Zixi, and RIST.
Experience with container formats such as MP4 (ISOBMFF) and CMAF, including segmenting, muxing, and stream packaging for live and on-demand delivery.
Understanding of advertisement insertion workflows and DRM (Fairplay, PlayReady, Widevine).
Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-have
Experience with encoding ladders, video compression tuning, and quality optimization.
Proficiency with AWS, Linux/Windows CLI, and open-source multimedia frameworks (e.g., FFmpeg, GStreamer).
Familiarity with contribution hardware and signal processing in baseband or ST 2110 workflows.
