Amerisure is currently recruiting for a Liability Major Case Unit Manager that can do a 3-day hybrid schedule onsite in one of our offices, but would consider remote for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will possess the following skill set.

Leads senior technical claim professionals ensuring execution of service model, production standards and superior outcomes. Promotes the success of the organization through development and advancement of relationships with agencies, policyholders and employees.
Essential Tasks/Major Duties
- Manage, train, provide performance feedback and assign duties of direct reports to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Manage the handling of high severity, specialized, complex and unique liability claims.
- Ensure timely referral and communication to senior leadership of claims meeting certain criteria.
- Collaborate proactively with agents, policyholders and internal stakeholders on major case unit files.
- Continuously coach and develop direct reports to conduct thorough investigations, assess coverage and liability, and build strong internal and external relationships. Guide team in pursuing risk transfer, creating action plans, preparing large‑loss reporting, identifying early resolution opportunities, and maintaining accurate, timely loss reserves throughout the claim lifecycle reflecting probable ultimate exposure.
- Evaluate and monitor staffing levels to maintain appropriate service and claims handling standards.
- Ensure plans of action are proactively developed and executed to conclude claims pursuant to guidelines and delegated authority.
- Identify and implement loss cost and ALAE management programs designed to deliver quality claims outcomes.
- Ensure proper reserves are established and maintained to accurately reflect financial exposure.
- Utilize file audits, periodic file reviews, extensive litigation management and available resources to identify trends and developmental opportunities. Monitor and ensure that claims are adjudicated in accordance with Amerisure claims and litigation management guidelines and quality standards through claims quality assurance programs, including tracking compliance with internal control assessment requirements.
- Develop and implement strategies and initiatives to improve file quality, expense management, investigations, subrogation, structured settlements, and litigation management.
- Ensure financial internal controls are adequately designed and monitored to minimize the risk of fraud and material misstatement in the financial statements.
- Create and implement efficient and effective claims and reinsurance processes and guidelines for complex and potentially high severity liability claims.
- Promote and employ create resolution strategies for complex files using appropriate resources.
- Analyze and interpret key performance indicators and other key metrics to identify claim trends and opportunities for improvement to meet department objectives and improve claim operations and/or results.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
- 7 years commercial claims experience including 5 years of high complexity/high severity claims handling.
- 2 years of claims managerial experience.
- Extensive knowledge of current tort, contract, and coverage laws in multiple jurisdictions. Claims handling experience with TX, FL, SC, GA, and AZ, preferred.
- Expert coverage analysis, liability analysis and litigation management skills.
- Industry accreditation (AIC, SCLA) preferred
- Ability to obtain appropriate state licensing as required.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Possesses a thorough understanding of general liability, employer liability and commercial auto.
- Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.
- Ability to travel overnight up to 20%.
