Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for highly motivated and passionateLean Practitioners (Associate or Experienced) to join the Propulsion South Carolina (PSC) team in North Charleston, SC.
As a Lean Practitioner you will drive continuous improvement of a world-class propulsion production system. The PSC production system includes 737 inlet assembly, 737 inlet Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MR&O), 787 engine build-up, and future nacelle production systems.
This is a hands-on, floor-first role: the practitioner works alongside operating teams at the point of work, applying improvement tools directly and building the relationships that make changes hold. Not only will this role be a leader of Lean and Boeing Production System (BPS), but a fundamental partner in applying and implementing the nine BPS tactics - visualize the value stream, balance the line, standardized work, visual controls, point of use, feeder lines, breakthrough process redesign, pulse line, and moving line. We are seeking highly motivated individuals driven by making changes and eliminating waste.
Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate (Level 2) or Experienced (Level 3) Lean Practitioner (Process Improvement).
Position Responsibilities:
  • Leading and coaching day-to-day implementation of Boeing Production System (BPS) standard concepts predominantly in manufacturing areas
  • Embed with manufacturing teams on the floor, building the working relationships that get improvements adopted and sustained after the engagement ends.
  • Coaching, leading and partnering with manufacturing, functional support, and management on systematic problem-solving activities
  • Support the site's Oobeya - the cross-functional command center, or war room, where the team surfaces problems and works them to resolution.
  • Lead and facilitate Kaizen / rapid improvement events and smaller focused improvement projects.
  • Map current- and future-state processes (value-stream mapping, process flowcharts) to identify waste and opportunities.
  • Implement pilot solutions on the shop floor; create standard work, checklists, and visual controls.
  • Support handoff and scaling of successful pilots; train and coach operators and supervisors.
  • Monitor sustainment activities (audits, Gemba walks, control plans) to ensure improvements stick.
  • Document lessons learned, update CI backlog, and report outcomes (time / cost / quality / safety).
  • Work will primarily occur on 1st shift, while occasionally also supporting 2nd

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Do you have a Bachelor degree and 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+1 years' related work experience , 7 years' related work experience, etc.)?
  • 3+ years of experience with applying Lean principles, processes, and tools on the production floor
  • 3+ years of experience leading or facilitating process improvement activities such as 5S, VSM, AIW, 3P, AMW/TPM, M&I, RCA, Systematic Problem-Solving
  • 3+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams
  • 1+ years of experience in Aerospace, Fabrication, or Manufacturing
  • Proficient in basic MS Office suite

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Level 3: 6+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience teaching and coaching continuous improvement tools and principles
  • 6+ years of experience applying Boeing Production System (BPS) and/or Toyota Production System (TPS) concepts
  • Boeing PARL certifications as a practitioner or higher for BPSM, VSM, AIW, 3P AMW, and/or DK.

Summary Pay Range:
Associate Level (Level 2): $79,900 - 108,100
Experienced (Level 3): $96,050 - $129,950
